Hey Guys, I recently changed my graphics settings from DX_9 to DX_7 so that i got a big fps boost which i did, however, now on most maps i am seeing white boxes with crosses in them in things like the lights in the tunnel on De_Dust or Aztec, can somebody help me with this please ?

why would u ever have to do that if its default dx9 it wonts really help unless u have to put it in dx7

I do it simply for the smoother gameplay, the thing is it's not just me that has experienced this problem, surely there is a way to sort it ??

Try Dx8.1, 7 is just stupid. What card do you have?

System Specs:

2.5 ghz CPU
768mb DDR RAM
ATI 9600SE 128mb

Its reccommended is DX9 all on high which is what i usually play it on, but i get such a bad fps on it that it is becoming unplayable, when i put it on DX7 my fps is constantly in green so its going smooth, if i could get rid of the white boxes though i'd be fine, if not i'll have to stick to DX9 and just buy a new card or something.

remove

mat_dxlevel 70

from your config and add

-dxlevel 70

to the command line or launch options.

Hmm, i just booted up CSS before i did that to the config, changed them back from DX9 to DX7 again and it is fine .... Odd :|

Nope i lie just went back on and its doing it again... hmm ill try that config thing then.

Hmm, i just tried the -dxlevel 70 both with and without the - but it says unknown command ???

y dont u jsut do -dxlevel 80 u dont need to go all the way to 7

80 doesn't go as smooth as 7, doesnt matter anymore though, they aint appearing, and i put the resolution on 1024 x 768 and AA on X4 with graphics all on high for DX7 and it runs better then what it does on DX9, 10X better, i mean, if i could get commands that dont affect graphics that much yet increase fps a lot then i would use DX9 or even 8 but all the commands i've seen decrease the graphics horribly.

let's try reading that again and focus on the bold parts.
