White Boxes in HL2.

I get this white boxes around any light source in HL2. Here are some Pics of it.

Please help. I never used to get these boxes and I only get them in HL2. Not CS:S or Garry's Mod 10.

Missing texture. Verify game cache, through Steam; if that doesn't fix it, buy the game.

edit - Yeah, I've looked back, and everyone with a legitimate copy of the game fixed this problem by cache-verifying, and, failing that, updating drivers. Try both, please, and report back if that doesn't help.

sigh, im tired of ppl saying verifying the game cache will fix everything.....all it does is check that your files are the same as the up to date ones. its possible that your problem is within the console. to me it looks like some tool a developer would use. ive never seen this before so i wouldnt know the command to type in but that would be my best guess. also dont hound the guy thinking hes pirating.....

Yeah, you're right. It looks like where light would be coming from. Monitor, light bulb above door etc.

Sorry I was gone. Well verifying the game cache did not work. I will try updating my drivers and get back to you.

It's a console command that makes you have that problem (although I'm not sure how you got it if you didn't screw with the console heh), I've had it too when I was screwing around with mat_ commands to get more performance. Try deleting your cfg folder and see if that fixes it - if not, try following the support page on resetting your video settings.

Can you tell us your specs? Could be that your graphics card doesn't fully support HL2.

graphics cards wouldn't do that
im 99% sure its a console command.

Well I have had the smae graphics card since I got the game and it never used to do this.

Also Deleting the CFG folder did not work.

I have a Radeon X1300 Pro

theres only one more option that could fix this and that is to delete your hl2 folder in steamapps. if you have any save games then i recommend you copy them to the desktop. deleting the hl2 folder wont delete hl2 but it just deletes what you have done in the game,like settings and save games. after deleting the folder, go ahead and start up hl2. after its starts up then close it and put your saves back in the save folder and that will hopefully do it.
