This has to do with the attorney general scandal that is currently taking place. When the first batch of emails were given to congress because of their inqury many of the emails were sent from a private domain, gwb43.com which is owned by the Republican National Committee. By law it is illegal to conduct official white house business on outside servers. This law was set up to ensure that records of all official white house communications are kept.

Well, it now turns out that the white house has "lost" many of the emails from this private RNC server:

What a bunch of crap, for some reason I don't think they will get away with this. As a side note this has happened before but since congress was controlled by a bunch of "bushies" at the time no investigations took place and media kept silent on the issue:
