Included the only people who to my knowledge ever have been called that (from the 50s).

This poll is not complete without a Buddy Holly choice. :(

Well David Lee Roth is a close second to Nickleback.

Mr Jethro Tull?

ok ..Bill Haley and the Comets ..my choice is Elvis even though I'm not much of a fan and think Chuck Berry is more deserving ..but the King = Elvis

Nobody deserves such a title.

Though if I had to choose who I respect most out of every rock artist ever, it has to be Layne Staley. Held on for so long with Heroin, and didn't kill himself, or leave behind a child like ****ing Cobain, rather, had an accidental overdose, and was one of the most talented vocalists to ever grace my ears.

Jerry Lee Lewis. Where's that option?!?! :dozey:

This poll sucks.

Kurt Cobain, duh.
As much as I like Nirvana, your talking about a totally different genre.

He would however be the king of the grunge era.

No way, Chris Cornell's the king of the grunge era.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear.

This poll was made so that people could choose who, out of the people who have been ever been called "The King of Rock 'n' Roll", most deserved it.

To my knowledge, only three people have ever been given that honour: Elvis, Berry and Richard. Buddy Holly or Jerry Lee Lewis have never been called that, to my knowledge.

Now to the next question!!!! Who is the king of Rock Guitar?

Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, or Eddie Van Halen.

Note, Eddie Van Halen was shadowed by his use of Tapping, but 56% of his solos, and songs, include no tapping.

King of MTV's very own commerical genre? Grunge was just some word MTV made up to sell more records. Nirvana was a punk band, and while Kurt Cobain was an amazing musician, and he was part of making a genre hugely popular, he hardly is the king of the punk era. Even so, he is probably one of my favourite musicians.

And how do you be a king of a genre? No matter what way you look at it someone's contributed to another person's success, and generally it's more then one person.

Matt Bellamy. Again.
Or Jimmy Page, I suppose.

The king of all music is whoever was the first person to sing/play actual music. Nobody that we've ever heard of, as it would probably date back to the days of Cavemen, but damn, we thank whoever for whatever he/she did for inventing music. :D

B.B. King, he taught Eric Clapton, who is easily the best of the 3

I always think the entire collection of the bands in the 60s were the kings as they all shaped rock n roll as we see it today, The Who, The Beatles, Cream and Hendrix etc all played pivital roles in shaping the genre before progressing even further in the next era of David Bowie etc.

Elvis never write is own songs.
