I would suggest Kleiner has more science-y intelligence, but less of the 'street' smarts required for existing in a Combine run world.
Eli is a scientist, but is also head of the rebellion, suggesting he is more all-areas of intelligence.

So I would say Eli is more renowned (if you could even call it that in a game as linear as Half-Life), but Kleiner is more academically intelligent.

JUL3 you have nothing to base that off stereotypes about awkward geniuses. As far as I know there is no evidence about who is/was better in their field (please correct me if I'm wrong).

The only thing to go off is we now Kleiner once had his photo on the front of a science magazine.
