Who is the gman...........?

I have been wondering since the very first half life.Who is gman?!!?!? When i played half life 2 i have been seeing him all around. sometimes he is watching me from a distance and other times i have been watching him......Some say he is gordon freeman and others say all secrets will be reaveled in half life 2 ep3.can someone please tell me!!!!!

seriusly. No one know who he is. And the only one to aknoledge his existance is Eli. In fact, No one even knows his name. "G-man" is just his Model name from the consol in hl1, And from that, Valve, and every one else has called him that. But valve could easily say that "G-man" is a codename or something.

the G-man is short for Government Man. in the manuals in opposing forces and blue shift there are a few journal entries from Shephard where he refers to seeing that "government guy" later in the journal entries he shortens it to g-man. journal entry below

March 7 - I finally saw the government guy today. I am not sure he is a g-man, but he was wearing a really uptight suit and carrying a briefcase. He looked more like a lawyer or insurance agent to me. I did notice him checking me out. Several times throughout the day I spotted him just watching me during training. I wonder what he's up to..."
