Who Needs Guitars Anyway?

God I love the possibilities of electronic instruments.

People were saying the same shit in the 80's.

The truth is, I'd take the real thing over rendered, digitized imitation. It's cool that he does that, but it's no guitar.

EDIT: on that guitar/piano thing, jesus man, I've always wanted to do that. I mean, I could easily play something like that on a piano, but its not nearly as cool as on a guitar. I think I'll rig up some kind of machine to turn keyboard hits into a fretted/plucked note on a guitar. It wouldn't be incredibly difficult, I'd just need a bunch of servos and attach a little arm to every possible fretted note. On second thought, that would be insanely difficult ;(

It's cool, if you're into the sort of thing, but it can never really replace a guitar in any way. You just can't beat the feeling of the strings vibrating under your fingers, you can get lost in it. The guitar itself has something that electric instruments just can't reproduce--and that goes for all traditional instruments.

While the stuff is really awesome, it's a thing in-and-of itself. Electronic instruments can do some wonderful things, but I just love the feel of my guitar too much.

Yep. It's astounding isn't it? I'm more interested in how electronic music is going to shape later mainstream music. When I listen, I already hear tons of electronic influences albeit small ones. Soon enough people won't be outside strumming their guitar, but rather a drum machine or synthesizer. Ahh, future.

They've been saying that for a long long time, since Kurt Cobain's time.
This is pretty cool though, but I wouldn't really call that a drumkit, it just looks like a drum module

Who Needs Guitars Anyway?

I do.

Ok, so programming it or whatever he did was pretty creative, and it seems like he really gets into his music, but still, real instruments pwn electronic simulating things.

Pretty cool, but there are tons of synth patches and modulation filters that can sound pretty much exactly like that already without having to create the sample yourself. In the end, not many people are really going to care about how you created the sound.

And man, I would really hate having to play keyboard on a drum module pad like that. Why not just get a standard MIDI keyboard controller so that improvisation is a lot easier?

I love all instruments, no matter how electronic they are.

That guitar-synth pad was amazing.

It will never beat the might of a Les Paul!

NEVER!

Pushing buttons for the lose. :(
