I'm gonna say Lennon, followed by Ringo. Ringo wasn't the best drummer but still was critical to the beatles' success.

For me it's:
1. George Harrison
2. Paul McCartney
3. John Lennon
4. Ringo Starr

Ringo Starr once had Pleurisy and so did I. We share a spiritual connection. Sadly he got all the musical talent.

To be honest I like Macca the best but I had to share that piece of knowledge with you.

I personally love John Lennon's songwriting and singing more than everyone elses.

1. John Lennon
2. George Harrison
3. Paul McCartney
4. Ringo Starr

George Harrison, All Things Must Pass is an amazing album, Lennon had some good albums, but no single Lennon album could stand up to All Things Must Pass.

Ringo's the worst Beatle, a drinking bird could've replaced him and the band would have been just as successful

They're all great, but I've always loved Paul's basslines. If I ever learned bass guitar, the first thing I'd do is join a Beatles cover band.

Also, am I the only person ever to not love While My Guitar Gently Weeps? Not that it's bad, I just never thought it was anything special.

Edit - Except, of course, for this:

That guy has awesome videos.

Favourite Beatle has to be Ringo Starr. First of all, he narrated 'Thomas the Tank Engine'. Second, his drumming on Abbey Road kicks bottom, and third, his singing is generally a nice break from the singing of McCartney and Lennon. He's the odd one out of the Beatles, but he has this strange sort of charm that I think elevates him above the others.

George Harrison had some pretty interesting solo work and wrote some decent songs, plus he had a spiffy rosewood telecaster, so he gets to come second.

Paul McCartney has a great voice which, in my opinion, suits the Beatles sound really well, and his bass playing is pretty decent.

I don't really like John Lennon. A lot of his writing is good, but I honestly cannot stomach the majority of his vocal work. He sounds like a chipmunk.

I don't understand why Ringo and Paul has the same amount of votes.

Ringo may have been a good drummer, but doesn't come close when it comes to talent compared to any of the other members.

obviously the answer is Pete Best

heh not so simple question

best beatle while a beatle? or most successful of all the former beatles?

if it's just a matter of most successful (career wise) I'd say Paul ..most influential; no question John Lennon

best beatle? while a beatle? ..that's tough ..Lennon was the leader but he shared song writing with Paul ..I guess I'd pick John lennon however paul should also get that honour as they're better together than apart

Heh, I actually thought about including Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe in the poll.

I wouldn't consider Lennon the "leader", I always considered Lennon and Paul to share the leadership.

ya but john was always seen as the spiritual leader

wiki said:
Lennon was considered the leader of The Beatles, as he founded the original group. McCartney said, "We all looked up to John. He was older and he was very much the leader - he was the quickest wit and the smartest and all that kind of thing

ya but that was primarily during the early years. As they grew more sophisticated each member became more independent and it got harder to name a specific leader.

What about Brian Epstein, the only true fifth Beatle

I think that was true in the formative years ..George Martin probably had as much or greater influence on the beatles at least in terms of shaping their sound
