Who would you pick to play the Main charectars? Gordon, Gman, Barney ect. ect.

Im thinking the only way the movie could be made is if it was presented to a major motion picture company (ie Warner Bros, Paramount) . Those kind of companies like main-stream, and having a movie through someones eyes the whole time would probably make them reject thr project.

Rowan Atkinson could do a good Barney, maybe throw in some comic releif for the ever serious Gordon.

If I had to go for sheer look-alike quality, I'd probably go for Sheen as well.

As for the G-Man... Christopher Walken. Again, only for look-alike reasons, because I doubt he'd be able to do the G-Man voice right.

How much acting could there possibly be for Gordon? You never see the guy, or hear him talk...if the movie were to follow the games then that part should at least be the same...

It would have been interesting if they shot the whole movie in a first person view with no mirrors and gorden didn't talk. Some times i wish we had no idea what gorden looked like. any way i think Christopher Walking would be a good Gman he can be a great drama actor. but i dont think that will happen, most video game movies have one big name actor and the others are c-list actors.

Am I the only one out there who thinks a HL movie would be a type of sacrilidge to the PC? I can't see myself liking a HL movie, just because they would have to change things up so much that it would just end up sucking.

I don't see how Angelina could be Alyx. Sure, Angelina is one of the most beautiful, sexy women out there, but her complexion and everything is all wrong. Eli is black and Angelina, while I don't know her personal background, doesn't seem black or of interracial origions at the level that alyx appears to be.

Gary Oldman could make a decent Gordon, but I'd still pick Charlie Sheen.

William Davis (X-Files Smoking Man) would be too obvious a pick for the G-Man. :E Meanwhile, Christopher Walken would kick ass in that role.

My thoughts on a Half-life movie: approach it like they did the expansion packs. A movie telling the story of Half-life we all know and love would be boring. The playable characters (Gordan, Shepard, Barney, Colette, Gina) have already been played, and most don't ever speak. Their stories couldn't involve a lot of personal choices or character developement by nature of it being a video game. And purists would complain if they changed things. (I would)

So create a new character to star in the movie, and let all the Half-life fans love the references to the games' characters and the parallel timeline to events they played in the game. This character's story can be more fit for a movie. He can have a wife and kids or whatever. He can experience personal growth.

We'd probably see but not hear Gordan (since the audience needs to understand how the accident happens). The gman can appear, possibly Breen (I think I'd perfer not Breen). Eli, Walter, etc can show up or be developed.

This way you have a good movie, it's true to the Half-life story, it's accessable to those who haven't played the games (and might get them interested), and provides more insight into the events at Black Mesa that gamers want.

Ok, pay attention Mr. Freeman, I am only going to say this once.

First, the topic has been discussed to death. Latest thread is:http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=55559

We should start making pollls for actors, then close them and finally decide. And quit suggesting Norton :frown: , because:

Norton is good for all this "boyish-characters in trouble" roles. Fight Club, 25th hour, Larry Flint, Primal Fear, even the American History X, Red Dragon, etc... His manner of speech stays the same though all those movies, and it wouldn't be good for Gordon, that's what I think.

I support Charlie Sheen or Gary Oldman. Charlie Sheen has a good experience for such role from (The Arrival), and Oldman is a much better actor overall.
On the other hand, there's Joe Cucan (Kane from C&C series), but that one is hopelessly bald
