It's the best thing that's been on C4 in quite a while (way better than Smack the Pony in my opinion). I wish I could find some rips of it online. Anyone else here been watching it?

If you have no idea what I'm on about Green Wing is a surrealist UK TV show set in a hospital.

It is Channel 4, so i don't expect much.

I think you have to take it for what it is...surrealist comedy was quite a good description.

Scrubs, although set in a comedic hostpital enviroment, is more like M.A.S.H, where as Green Wing is just plain odd :) You have to have an odd sense of humour to match. I like it :)

Woah wait a min, green wing is a genius programme, it reminds me of the comedy series "spaced" & also "black books".

And channel 4 is the best !!! it has so many comedy programmes which fit my humour.

green wing is the worst move uk tv has ever made. friends is far more appropriate, as its actually funny.

So making orginal english programmes is a bad move for UK TV and they should stick to showing repeats of friends...

Friends is like the pop music of comedy, everyone likes it but it's not doing anything new or taking any risks. Naturally Green Wing isn't for everyone some poeple either don't like or don't get the dark homour but at least it's different.

Oh and Guy Secretan is the best character ever...

I like Green Wing, it's not constantly funny but some bits make me laugh a lot (usually involving the guy from Spaced and the bloke who was Adrian Mole and Dan in Alan Partridge), like when the (don't know names yet) doctor with the tasche (the Spaced guy) came out of the cupboard in his pants playing the recorder last week.

:O Channel 4 is my favourite channel at the mo, and as for comedy.....Phoenix Nights? Darkplace? Need I say more? :p

no im saying that friends should be shown more than green wing. green wing is typical (present) english comedy : bollocks.

blackadder, dads army, only fools and horses etc are legends. recent comedy is just crap tbh.

Recent comedy crap :O

Perhaps its just not to your taste, although there have been some flops recently, but then...there always are. I'm sure there were plenty of crappy programmes before Blackadder came along. It just wouldn't have been the same without them though...
Friends shown more than green wing :x Friends is over, ok repeat it but only when there aren't any more new programmes to come on.

When most people think of "classic UK comedy" they can only come up with about 5 programmes. No-one realises that they came years apart and that there were many other programmes in between that didn't appeal to enough people or simply weren't good enough to remember. I don't think comedy these days is dead, we're just in between classic sitcoms. I think there have been some recent series that I will be remembered in years to come, such as Coupling or The Office.

Do any of you lot know when Darkplace is coming out on DVD?

yeh i saw it, it's weird. lol i that man playing that flute thing in his underwear was hilarious.

Early next year is all they're saying at the moment.

Bumholes :(

I was hoping to get it for Christmas (along with the Sliders boxset and Matrix Boxset (10 discs woooo!) if Santa felt like being nice ;))

i used to watch Sliders, i think i saw the first or second series, did it get much better? I'd have thought they'd run out of ideas eventually and it'd dry up.

I havent watched this programmed, but im interested, when is it on?

It's on Fridays from 9:30 till 10:35 (suprised that they can do it for an hour!)

I loved Sliders, I really can't remember what happened in it only that it was cool when I was little

I liked sliders, but then they got rid of the proffesor. It wasn;t as good after that...then when they replaced quin it just ended for me :x Although I still watched it just to see what happened.

ditto, although i didnt watch it. it went off bbc2 or sky one didnt it? i cant remember what channel it was on, i tihnk it's only on one of the gold channels or the sci-fi one now.

ive seen both episodes so far, and some of it is funny, some of it isnt.

One of the things i do find hilarious is that guy who's allways nervous and gets an erection when playing the flute- LOL that was so funny when he burst out the cupboard in hus underwear, i couldnt stop laughing

*edit* heard someone mention black books... that also rocks, i love it :)
