Yes, not all are. But the originals, and most common ones are.
But why?! Is it becuse legoman are yellow?
It has to look similar to humans, but still different?
argh! Such a hard question! :O :rolling:   :frown:

because the guy who invented the very first smiley face (now used commonly as the smiley emoticon) decided to colour it yellow. All the others just followed that.

Yeah, smilies are based off the "don't worry, be happy" smiley face from the 60's or whenever.

come on guys, you've all seen Forest Gump... .we know how it started :p

Well, smilies seem to change color depending on their mood.

I've seen what now? You don't know me!

But seriously, what's Gump got to do with it? (Got to do with it?)

and there was me thinking it was a homage to the simpsons!

Yeah it all started in the 60's but I imagine back then when yellow was used is that yellow is a nice and happy colour.

well, when they were on lcd and stuff like that, everything was yellow :p

Bah, they're modelled after my image!
/me notices that he is, in fact, not yellow.
Damn :(

What was the name of the Inventor of Emoticons again ?

Edit: Kevin Mackensie
