Was CS ever good to begin with?

The only time it's fun, is when you're on a small server, with a few people you know (frequenters), the whole server is having a friendly chat, and nobodies hacking.

CS is sorta like an IRC channel with the occasional skirmish. It's as friendly and fun as the people in the channel.

Lemme tell you though, when it's fun, it's REALLY fun

Now if you recorded a firefight where you shot the guy 5 times in the head and there was blood everywhere, and he killed you and as you were speccing him he still had 100hp then I'd think it's worth it to investigate.

I play both CS:S and 1.6.
I play 1.6 for the warcraft 3 mod.
I play CS:S when I actually want a straight up game of CS.

Lots of times people get pissed at me if I say anything good about CSS in a 1.6 server.. It seems most 1.6 players HATE CSS. I got kicked for calling 1.6 "old counter strike"... But then, these are normally the same people that bitch if something changes, and can't stand variety.

As for which group is better, CSS people or 1.6 people... I hate everyone, but I'll say CSS, because there seems to be less kids.

I don't see how you can say surfing is better in 1.6. I first started surfing in Source, and later went back and tried some on 1.6. The problem with 1.6 surf maps is that the makers normally don't set the view distance long enough, so you only see several hundred feet in front of you. Unlike in Source where you see damn near everything.

Nah it's not that. I started on 1.6 so that's what I got good. on. Surf_maps like Aztec and Egypt are what I trained on. I moved to source and everything was heavier. I just didn't like it.

Interesting point. I bet it's because with CSS people are generally over the age of 18, have jobs and are able to afford computers that are able to run CSS at an acceptable level. Whereas 1.6, generally speaking of course, the 11-14 year olds own older computers and still play 1.6 because they're unable to run CSS.

Got CS:S in January. 100 fps on all maps. Today, 40 fps if I'm lucky. I think Valve are trying to force us to buy new equipment.

Working as an animator/3d-designer requires a decent rig.
Dual 20" LCD monitor among others cost too damn much and Also swapping from a
Quadro FX card to a 6800 ultra card costs. Intel is expensive, 2 gig of ram etc. etc.
The list goes on forever. It's probably more like $8000.

And about the clip.. That pisses you off?? That happens all the time. To much aggression in CSS...

I like all variations of CS whether its 1.6, CZ or CSS. I prefer CSS due to my clan being in it (The clans been on 1.6 till source came so its not like the clans noobs or anything). Also i like the graphical effects of CSS.
