seriously guys, this is a forum,NOT COUNTER-STRIKE.How can someone be a forum NOOB.its like what, does the forum noob now have the 1337 posting skills?Has the noob not Mastered the art of of teh forumzzz?if you say forum noob,i say phuck you.

I dont know why people say noob. I dont think it even emans a new perosn any more. I for one dont ahve a problem with new people asking questions. Anyway, im not really sure what you were asking so im going to stop talking now.

i ask has noob become a common insult?even in real life.i can imagine some nerds at a gaming convention screaming at eachother be cause someone geek called him a noob.Has noob become a common insult like dumbass,s**tface,b**tard, etc.?

Are we going to start hearing noob on tv as an insult?!?!?

BadgerEDIT: Cleaned up your language :)

Being a forum noob stems from the fact that one is new to a forum, a forum newbie.

Now, a lot of "intelligent" people use the term noob in a derogatory way, suggesting that this person is "less skilled", just because he/she is new.

I truely don't know. N00b has been used as an insult but really only means 'newbie'. Now it could also mean that you are acting like a newbie on purpose. It could also mean that you are an idiot, or other strong language or racial slurs. It depends on the views of the person saying the word 'n00b'.

Oh one more thing. This is solely my opinion.

Which is probably wrong.

New to the forum = newbie

It's standard forum posting, so don't take it so seriously someone calls you a n00b. :)

I think newbie (i never, ever say n00b) is considered an insult... but the fact that we have a 'Newbie Central' forum shows that as a site we don't hate new people... only people who annoy us. :)

(oh, and Mitoboy, were you insulting CrowbarOfDoom there... or was that your definition? :P)

EDIT: Damn you Mitoboy... editing your post while I was talking about it :P

I thought 'Newbie' and "N00b/noob' meant different things, with the latter one being the more insulting of the two.

haha thing is im NOT new to the forum,i just dont post alot.people are dumbs**ts like this.AND EITHER WAY SO WHAT,IF SOMEONE IS NEW DOES THAT MEAN THEY ARE NOT AS "GOOD AT POSTING" AS THE UBER-1337 POSTER HAXXORZ?

Seriously , I think all the geeks are taking noobs too far, pretty soon some korean dude will kill another korean dude at a PC CAFE because they were playing counter-strike and korean dude #1 called korean dude #2 a noob.Example :

KOREAN DUDE #1 : NOOB,DONT USE AWP NOOB!!1111

KOREAN DUDE # 2: STFU U NOOB

KOREAN DUDE #1: *PULLS OUT GUN* *BOOM BOOM BOOM* DIE NOOBZORS

BadgerEDIT: Stop swearing!!!

Its just a chain of command, big dog over the small one. If you have been here longer you are dominiant. "noob" is a world to enforce that chain of command.

One thing I hate is when people call someone a Newbie because they aren't as good as them in a game. The definition of a Newbie is someone who is New to the game and such. The player may not be as good as you but that doesn't mean that he is a Newbie just because he doesn't have as much skill as you. The term Newbie to much just doesn't do justice to me when trying to insult someone that isn't as skillful as you.

And thats the end of that.

I believe the question was answered. Now before this becomes even more of a flame fest im closing it.

Good day.
