(please note, I know that not everybody here is from Britain, but most are)

So I got Burnout:Paradise from my parents today, and went onto that "Free burn"
I ended up in a room with 6 people from England, and everybody was doing challenges.

A) I notice that Brit's talk more than any other person I have played against.

B) I asked many questions, and all 6 were willing to help me get stuff done.

C)Very good driver's.
I also noticed A and B on CoD4.

So Tell me people of Britain, why are you so awesome?

(Let me know if you wanna play some Burnout on Saturday as well?)

I meet both American and English nob'eads through online gaming, both PC and 360. I come across awesome American players who are dead friendly all the time and are exactly as you describe some English players, so I don't think it can be narrowed down so much.

I don't think I'd get along with a brit in person. They'd be all like, "Eh, bug off you f**ing wanker!" :D

I met and talked to a group of British people recently. It was a real culture shock. We took them to a Tex-mex resturaunt and they couldn't stand the spicy food. They made fun of me because I didn't call pants "trousers" or trucks "lorries" or math "maths." They also said that I didn't look like "the typical Texan", like they expected me to be riding a horse or something.

Best thing about Europe is soccer hooligans. Those guys are damn awesome. They kick ass and everything.. It's awesome..

90% of americans I encounter on CoD 4 who speak are -

  • Racist
  • Homophobic
  • Loud
  • 12
  • All of the above

I've also encountered some pretty annoying Aussies, but I don't think I've ever heard any brits. Then again I don't get the best latency to Europe so I probably leave the game before I get a chance.

I worked with a guy named Gilbert and he was awesome.

I bet it was him out of infamous comic opera duo Gilbert and Sullivan.

Three theories:
- Brits are simply used to a more refined and more civilised climate of life, which softens our temperaments toward total strangers.
- We are often restrained, awkward and somewhat repressed in our social behaviour, especially toward strangers. But online, away from the risk of the funny looks we get when we say hello to strangers, all that bottled-up goodwill outlets in a surprising tolerance to fellow webazoids. ODDS: leave it aaaht
- After the Empire fell we spent all our suddenly spare time and resources on coming up with witty brabs to combat people when they teased us about the whole affair. ODDS: you slaaaag

I don't think English people rock. Such thoughts are illegal where I come from ;)

I don't play online games very much anymore, but when I did, It was like this:

Brits would say things like "****ing yank", "Americans can't drive", "the most difficult motorsport in the world is rally racing, and americans don't do it because they can't drive" That was really the only time I played with any using voice chat, but I won't assume all brits are the same.

this may have been because I was the only american and everyone else were kind of grouping and may have been buddies.

Americans I have played with are often immature, young and loud, racist, rude, aggressive, greedy, cheaters, lack any skill in the game, or anti-social, or a combination of these things. Some are quite skilled, but very "for self" and won't help anyone or even respond in some cases.

It's really a huge contrast with americans because you will meet some really good players that are really friendly (usually older people) and you will meet the exact opposite. It's about 50-50 from what I've seen.

Usually the friendly people seem to be more casual players.

I agree though, Brits seem to talk a lot. The skilled americans are often really cocky assholes or skilled and very unfriendly, or annoying argumentative bastards. I treat everyone different depending on how they act. If you are a dick, I will be the same back, and if you are friendly, and don't bug me, I will do the same, and if you are annoying I will tell you to shut up and/or avoid you. if you are a noob I will avoid you, unless I'm a noob at that game of course.

Did you stop to think that they are all probably related?
Most 12 year olds are extremist for whatever reason...

It's because 12 year olds all have the same problem - They think they sound and think like adults.

I remember when I was 13 on these boards. Looking bad at my posts makes me cringe. Every little kid thinks he / she is the second coming. You just have to blank out the idiots.

From my own personal Misanthropic experience, the English have been mostly abusive hitlers who use the word 'gay' far too frequently to be anything less than suspect, and love the sound of their own nasal prepubescent voices. They are also the worst losers. The Americans, self righteous die-hard martyrs, tend to lose graciously but win badly. The Koreans, silent ninjas of win, and the Germans the most prolific cheats.

The friendliest and most helpful I've found are the Dutch. They also speak better English than the English.

I haven't met any Russians.

Hmmm, must have found the exception, all the brits I find on CoD4 are loud, annoying, and trash talk all the time, but that's how everyone I find on XBL is, so it's not a nation-thing

LMAO!!

How true that is. Mines "almost" there too.

As for the question at hand, i'd have to say that 95% of the Brits I have met, have been pretty cool blokes. The only difference between them & me, apart from a long swim, is the fact that I don't associate all Brits by the actions of only a few, such as they & the rest of the world seem to do about us Yanks. Not all Americans are bad. Stop treating us as though we all think alike, because we don't.

Also Brits have some awesome food. I used to live in New Zealand & my god, there ain't no one on this planet that can make "Proper" Fish & Chips like the Brits or those influenced by them can.

Plus they (Brits) talk funny. :P

Whereas californians don't have an accent

Most Americans I encounter never talk, and when they do its "F*ckin noobs that ain't right, I shot you 1 time, shot me 400 and I died, f*ck this!"
and, if I am new and don't know whats happening, ask a question, I get-
"Shut up moron."

I am not saying its all Americans, but the majority I encounter are like that, whereas European people are MUCH kinder as a whole (but English people tend to be the most helpful to me.)

Heh, same, I dunno, all these kids buying games that are labelled for ages above theres, infesting the game with their irritating voices, its amazing how these games cause such a concentration of the worst scum of American youth.

Except Source games, I dunno why but Source games have this habit of attracting swarms of irritating loudmouth Euro-brats who don't shut the hell up with their irritating 10 year old voices.

So in conclusion, kids ****ing need to die and I basically turn of voice comms in all my games.

Private TS/vent servers for mates FTW.

It just amazes me how these kind of people can exist in the social and cultural situations that allows them to have nice expensive cultured things like computers and game consoles.

Frankly these kids need to be committed. To an asylum.

Its not so much nationalities, its the age thats important.

I would be happy if all young teenagers were banned from every social activity, online o offline, I enjoy, no ifs or buts until such a time as they mature, if they ever do.

If I was ever anything like the little shits that infest the internet and game servers, I can only apologize wholeheartedly with deep remorse and self disgust.

Luckily I wasn't.

I spent my Early teens not being an internet douchebag, like most normal teens.

I always preferred gaming with Brits and Dutch and other Euro's, but I figured that was merely down to me being British, and the server pings being better, and a more akin sense of humour.

Out of the people I have played/talked with online:

Brits - Usually alright yet obviously get the occasional idiot.
Dutch - Normally stoned or drunk, stereotype much?
Russians - Hard to understand.
Germans - Dead serious all the time.
Americans - Quiet or silly.
