Why do you think it's being released so late?

I just can't understand why Vivendi is choising to release this game in late Novemeber. The game is freakin' finished. Reviewers have played the whole thing, and absolutely nobody has commented on unfinished content or bugs -- this game could go to shelves.

Valve sent copies to the main PC Gaming magazines and had them review the game without it going gold, and obviously they thought the game would be coming out very soon to when the reviews went to print, because that's what freakin' reviews are for! To help the consumer decide what to buy! You don't release the game after two months have gone by! This all just seems like insanity to me. For pete's sake, we are going to have preloads on our machines for almost four months before the actual game is going to be released, if this November bullshit comes true.

Valve and Vivendi's ways are mysterious to me, what with their lack of multiplayer options and dozens of other weird moves, but I just can't figure this out.

They're money-grubbing bastards hoping to cash in on the holiday season, that and they're f*cks, yeah

Maybe if Valve hadn't taken so frickin' long to make the damn game, waiting 20 more days wouldn't seem like such a big deal. VU and Valve both piss me off.

Because Vivendi, in addition to being buttheads, also believe they'll somehow make more $$ by releasing it closer to Christmas.

NOTE to any Vivendi rep.s who might be reading this: If you delay the game until November, I WILL switch my retail preorder to a steam order.

For god's sake. You don't even know the reason. So stop making up reasons to be pissed off at Vivendi.

I'd switch it to steam anyway, Valve are the ones that deserve the money, not Vivendi

Very poor marketing strategy. They will not lose any holiday sales if they release the game in October. All they are doing is pissing off customers, which is always an extremely poor plan. The game is done. Release it. Money will be made. Lots of money.

Vivendi = Asshats

This is the most logical explination I've heard so far to expalin Vivendi's puzzling behaviour.

if this release date is real then that sucks why the hell would they wait a whole month and a half? im sure they could easly make it go gold today but damn money hungry VUG wanna wait for the perfect time to make the biggest possible sum of money, screw the fans that have been waiting an extra year.

when does VUG's next fiscal quarter start? pardon my ignorance, but if not until NOV, there's your answer.

Like others and I've said countless times before...late November is the most lucrative selling time for video-games the entire year.

Please. They're in the "midst" of evaluating whether it meets their "high standards"? They've had a release candidate for how long?

If they send it back, OK. But if they announce a date 2 months in the future, they're holding it because they're buttheads.

(How long was CS:Z gold before it was released? 6 months?)

What else are we supposed to do? Obviously, Vivendi is not taking the liberty to tell us their reasons. The only reason i heard was to test it. They would be testing it for over a month and a half if there were to be a November release. So, until they give a real reason, they are bastards.

I just posted this in another thread but it still pertains here as well:

"Just to add a little bit to this whole thing, Nov. 23rd is a Tuesday. Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. is Thursday the 25th.

Games, CDs and DVDs in the U.S. are typically released on Tuesdays whereas those same items are commonly released on Fridays in the UK.

If this were a fake release date, it is somewhat logical based on those simple facts above.

However, it should be noted, I have for the last 3 years found myself at CompUSA (a local computer retailer) at their door the day AFTER Thanksgiving for a hot new game release because in the U.S. the first few days after that holiday are the biggest Christmas shopping days we have.

So three times in a row, software companies broke the normal Tuesday U.S. release tradition and pushed their games out on a Friday. The last Thursday of November is always the Thanksgiving holiday.

Which means, I'm not sure if I am ready to buy into the Nov. 23rd release date just yet. If they said Worldwide release Nov. 26th, I'd believe it more."

Edit: added quotes around my statement from other thread...

All that being said, a Nov. 23rd release date is still very much unconfirmed at this point. We are basically getting ourselves all worked up without having the facts in hand yet. Eurogamer is a decent site but until we see something directly from VUG and/or Valve, all this discussion is pointless really. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it any less though :)

Late November is about the time Christmas shopping starts out here...so I recon they could actually make a couple of extra bucks :)

Look at the positive side, they arn't holding it back for 6 months.

VU had this announcement to make today
That's the way we do it yaw'll
