Why does everyone assume the G-Man is bad?

I mean, think about it...when has Valve ever said he had bad intentions? Perhaps the Black Mesa thing was part of his own little twisted agenda to actually save the world, by picking out the ones who performed extraordinarily at Black Mesa? Im just tired of everyone hatin' on the G-man for being the bad guy.... :(

Does anyone here actually hate the G-Man? Bad guy or not, everyone seems to like him.
 
I never assumed he was bad. He always seems rather friendly to me (other than the whole "come with me or die" thing). I'm pretty sure he is the leader of the resistance in HL2.
 
Everyone hates him because he cheats. He has godmode on!

Anyway, maybe the G-man isn't bad - but his employers are? He's just doing his job.
 
I dont like him because he has those shifty lookin eyes...
 
It was a joke. . .but he does look like Bush. Personaly I think theyre both idiots.

lets leave the political commentary out of hl2, please.

I suppose he could be working for a benevolent group in some way, since he is calling on gordon to stir up trouble for the tyranical new governmnet of earth, the combine (assuming this is what he woke gordon up for-dont know the story yet).

Although he has done bad things, like nuked the BMRF, threatened gordon with death if he didn't comply, and probably was the engineer behind the whole resonance cascade and subsequent xen invasion in the first place.

He looks nothing like Bush. Bush looks like a shaved monkey in a suit.

The G-Man's ambivalence in almost every aspect - his motives and morals especially - is part of what contributes to his being one of the best computer game characters of all time.

look i think VALVe made the G-Man the way he his for a reason. as reactiveteme put it he has shifty eyes. i mean hey this guy look wierd and personally his speech is the weirdest thing ever. but this guy is suppose to unknown man thats the whole point of HL. Confusion. Look now I;ve heard there is this guy called the Adminastrator. wtf is up witht that

you guys should read some of the Fan Fiction stuff its so interesting. i recommend Half Life:Gordons Dead. if you cant find it go to the fan fiction forum and go to the search. i think the guy wrote 7 Chapters o far

Haha, that link is pretty funny. I'm in New Zealand and don't know shit about John Kerry, but I seriously don't care how much of an idiot he is, there's no way he's worse than that abortion you people have running your country at the moment.
 
I don't hate the G-Man. I just think he's mysterious and Cool. :)
 
I think the g-man is actually good, and is trying to save the human race.... it wouldn't make any sense if he was leading the alien invasion of Earth, he must be behind the resistance......
 
If the G-man really wanted to stop the alien invasion, why didn't he just grab a gun and fight them himself? He apparently can't be killed, so he has nothing to fear. And if he was against the aliens, why didn't they attack him on sight?

Not saying he is evil, but LOOK AT HIM! He's deathly pale, has a damn evil smile, and wears dark colors!!! He looks like evil simply put.
