Also, while im on the subject, does anyone know why it makes me restart my comp everytime i change resolution? it didnt use to O_o

Oh yeah soz;

OPERATING SYSTEM : Microsoft windows XP Home Edition

MEMORY : 1024mb
VIRTUAL MEMORY: 637mb used 1825mb available
DIRECTX VERSION : 9.0
GRAPHIC CARD :Radeon x300/x550 series
GRAPHIC CARD MEMORY : 128mb
RESOLUTION :1024x768
DRIVERS : ati2dvag.dll <--- not sure about that

right assuming its not a hardware problem yet try
- verifying your files
- changing the directx setting to 9

Validate HL2: steam://validate/220

To try running it in DirectX 9.0c:

Try running the game in DirectX 8.1. mode:

Left-click on the Steam tray icon.
Select "Games".
Click on the "My Games" tab.
Right-click on the game that you want to activate the console of.
Select "Properties".
Click on the "General" tab.
Click on the "Set Launch Options" button.
Put in the window box: -dxlevel 90
Click "OK".
Click "Close".

Also, make sure you have the LATEST version of DirectX 9.0c (June Update). You can check your version of DirectX by pressing "Start", then "Execute" and typing in "dxdiag" in the prompt. A window should pop up stating the correct version below, next to "DirectX Version". Put the version number in your reply.
