I think the Hazard Suit is great but I would have loved to see it in another color besides International Orange.

International Orange was developed because it is the most visible color over long distances, making S & R easier.

All life jackets, survival suits, lifeboats etc must be in international orange.

I can see why the 'Hazard Suit' should be a similar color but it isn't the most fashion orientated color.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I thought hazard orange would be the nature choice for a hazard suit. Anyway, orange is in these days.

i would like to see the orange parts in black, and the black parts in grey!!!

anyway, you CAn change your suit's colour in multi......

I don't think a hazard suit is centered around the causes of fashion, really.

actually, gabe newell confirmed in an old interview that they hired gordon look alikes to parade down a runway in various colored hazard suits, then picked the one that looked the sexiest

the holografic assistant just says hazardous environment suit.... so yes, i guess EV=environment....

Same place he stashes everything else, down his pants.

Oh wait, that's Guybrush i'm thinking of.

(monkey island reference)

Hey if theres an actual hazard suit then I want one!

Well I mean look at my avatar.

Lol @ Shodan. I have a gasmask too ('cept mine's desert-storm green'ish colored :))

Why did they work r_shadows out of HL, anyhow? The good old days when CS had shadows.. those were the days

maybe they were removed because shadows in each character made the game too much laggy in the machines of the time???

ROFL, that space biker Ivan model of the HEV reminds me of Gimli from LOTR in an HEV suit. The one in the red and black HEV ruit reminds me of Star Trek Elite Force.....

will they have customizable HEV suit colors??? that would be very leet if they did. I would have a ......

Black/grey
Orange/black (the way it is now)
Black/yellow
Green/white
White/green
Maroon/black
Blue/black (the same color blue as a bottle of Bawls)
Green/black
(Olive/Drab green)/black

Actually, I think the reason they hard coded it out is more than likely because shadows bled through walls, and there were exploits of some sort with early lambert cheats, so they saw it best to take them out =(

if we begin the game with the thirdperson code, Gordon is already wearing the HEV suit... strange, isn'it

That hazard suit was, originally, yellow. And then they changed it ro red. I have an Sierra Mag with a small article about it. And I also has the article that boats pics of the red one. Once I get my scanner working; I'll post them, for you guys.

in HL1, yeah, type thirdperson in the console.. there's commands to change the angle of the camera but I don't know them off hand. Type firstperson to go back to normal again

cam_idealyaw ### to change the angle

cam_idealyaw 0 makes the camera directly behind you

You can also use cam_idealdist to mess around with how far away the camera is from Gordon

never knew bout dem codes.. . but the grungy dwarf for a scientist still comes as a greater suprise :D

Orange for S&R makes perferct sense, doesn't it? You wear that thing in a dangerous enviroment-something goes wrong-you can be easily rescued/silenced thanks to your suit. Awesome! or not.. whichever comes first. =)

Good lord, that Gimli-a-like Gordon looks cranky.

So late to work, he forgot his coffee...

I emailed Valve when they were removed, don't remember the exact answer, but it was something like: they were too bugged (shadows appeared on top of "ceiling" (or skyboxes = ceiling with different texture. Dust for example has weird invisible ceilings, you can walk on them, it's waste of resources though, map maker should have fixed them. (there entire map was inside big skybox cubes instead of it's own structure).
And they didn't bother fixing them (becides with that technique they would never have managed to make perfect shadows, means ones that strecth with the polygons(terrain) under the character and lights didn't effect the shadow.

That's pretty disturbing. Why should a hazard suit look sexy? And I don't even wanna start thinking about the sexual fantasies of the Valve-people?

Oh yeah, one more thing: what's the whole point? You don't get to see yourself in HL1 anyway (although in OP4 you do ...)

I like the "RESEARCH" across the back of Ivan the Loggers HEV suit, like "Yo dude, what the f*ck are you doing in that stupid suit?!?" and "Hey man, check the back."
