Its stupid man my local computerstore does it too. Their selling the 9800 xt for 700 and the x800 pro for 640. (canadian)

jeezuz i know dude! lol same thing everywhere i go! 699 for 9800xt and 579 for the x800! WTF!?

PEACE

Just goes to show you the guys at compusmart are clueless as to what they are doing. Now some stupid noob is going to come to school and say he got the 9800 xt and becuase it cost more its better then the x800 pro.

hmm well... in canadian thats still roughly 600. lol damnit i hate our ****ing economy!

:rolling: When the X800 XT comes out the 9800 XT probably will go to a more suitable price. $299 and the 9800 Pro 256 will be $249 and the 9800 Pro will be $200?

Three reasons why the 9800XT is so expensive.

1) The X800 Pro is not widely available (if at all)
2) Consumers are dumb
3) I don't think ATI has slashed its prices on the 9800XT

ATI is pushing it's hella high end card, and hella high end parts, even from previous series are expensive. The X800pro is not the top o' the line card from the X series. The X800 XT PE is more expensive then the R9800xt. You're comparing apples to oranges.

The 9800XT was slashed from 500 to 450$ at compusa as a clearance price. My store currently does not have any 9800XT's on the shelves (nor will we be getting any more in) as the highest card we currently have is a 9800 Pro for 250$.

I've noticed that compusa is keeping most X800 series cards at the store where they ship internet orders from.

Its a stupid dumb thing. They probably pay so much for the cards and can't drop them right down or they are loosing money.

In UK 9800XT's cost £300...the x800pro costs £300.

The 128mb 6800 standard costs £200 and beats the 9800XT in everything lol...its proper stupid.

But then again, im sure someone totally not with it will sit and think "well hang on a tick, this 9800XT costs £300 and has 256mb memory :naughty: and this 6800 only has 128mb and costs less, hmm.... *places order for 9800XT*" its a garantee ;)

I want to know when the x800's will drop in price. Would anyone who's followed the pricing strategies of previous cards have any clue?

I havn't followed them too closely but I suspect the X800 won't drop in price until a couple months before ATI decides to release its next generation of cards, whenever that could be. 6 months maybe?

probably.
it makes no sense for ATI to be dropping prices any time soon.
oh well :x

Prices aren't that high anyways, if my broke ass can afford it then other people can too.
