Whenever I hear that the bush administration refuses to talk to its enemies, im blown away. When you view a hostile situation from a more "local" point of view, I.E. police, negotiation is a necessity. Im not saying that military force should not be an option, but it should be treated with a certain sense of respect and weary, as war is the most terrible thing in humans nature.

So metaphorically, we talk to our enemies, but we carry a proverbial piece in our wasteband, and if we have to bust... then we bust.

your thoughts are welcome

we have negotiated with insurgents in iraq, ill have to look it up. but many of the insurgents tried killing the ones who were negotiating

yet we refuse to negotiate with the "axis of evil", Iran, North Korea, we wont even listen to venezuela and write all these states off as crazy without even hearing them out

Hopefully that'll change now Rummys gone.

Thats only because the 'insurgents' are not an organised or unified force. Its like saying "we tried negotiating with the criminals in new york, but they won't listen/it doesnt work"

I think it all comes down to the fact that humans like killing each other, and we'll always find reason to do it, especially if material gain is there to motivate us.

saying "put your weapons down and surrender or we will carpet bomb your house, kill your family and rape your livestock" isnt negotiating :E

For one, criminals are still citizens, and they aren't actually the enemy.

For two, ****************************************

Interesting.

I posted at 3am in the morning, and can't remember what I wrote.

this may be a cliche argument but if the Bay Area where i reside was invaded, id be trying to **** shit up before they could get a word in edgewise. But country to country- there should be conversation in my book

Iran's leader is crazy, no doubt about that.

and what do we do with crazy people?

so iran's crazy? okay, correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt crazy behavior be kicking some guys ass because you thought he was trying to get over on you (turns out he wasnt), and then saying **** you to five other guys cause you think they're tryin to get over on you, and saying that theyre trying to **** you over even tho you refuse to speak to them

Post-election, that might change. In fact, the push for negotiating with iran is already on ,especially from europe.
