Why the hell do I need to insert the CD to play?

Bought the game, activated it through Steam, and yet I still need the CD in the drive to play???

What about people that downloaded it through Steam instead of bought a retail copy? How do they have to do it?

I'm starting to really get pissed at this whole crappy system.

Dude tell me about it... my HL2 is on its way (retail) and you need the DVD in the drive to play but I dont have a dvd player :dozey: I can use one to install the game but not to use forever.

People who brought online just play it stright from their HDD while here we are forced to buy a DVD copy.
