Hi, I'm really considering getting a TFT or HDTV. Basically I want something good for gaming and espically DVD's. I wanna watch dvd's without huge black lines.
I'm not wishing to spend huge amounts of money but something that works well enough.

Even if you do get a Widescreen TV you'll have some black lines at the top/bottom of the screen sometimes.

Not nearly as much as you would on a regular 4:3 screen though.

gaming PC or Gaming COnsole because they have nothing to do with eachother. TV & HDTV technology is actually quite dated compared to what your PC is already doing. Most of our PCs are runnign 800p, 960p, 1200p, while HDTV is 480p, 720p or the ultra-high 1080i. "i" is interlaced. If any of you bought PCs back in the early 90's you'll remember that the best monitors support VGA "ni" (non-interlaced 60-72hz) while the cheaper ones did interlaced (lower refresh rate). HDTV is 1920x1080 interlaced, which is poorer quality than what current computer monitors are capable of. This is why most video cards must have special TV connectors--the standard PC signal is higher quality and TVs can't handle them.

Most HDTVs, including the $10,000 flatscreens, only display a 800x600 PC image. You really have to buy a Computer monitor that will double as a TV screen (usually lacks a tuner) to get the best of both worlds.
