just wondering, as valve never released the city17 dm map to make judgments off of. thinking of making a city dm map, but want to get the units right!

to be honest I don't think there's anyone on these forums who has an exact measure of those.. you could use a info_player_deathmatch entity or a hostage model to get the scales right though :)

better yet i'm gona have to proly use a car prop, and screenshots.

i really don't understand why valve didn't release examples of all the areas before they annonced a mapping contest.

yeah, boggles the mind how people running competitions don't give you the correct answer first.

Put two prop cars in, check the width of those, add some air space and that's it.

well, if they want maps that look similar to the city for their competition, it be nice to have the dimensions of the roads. It's not much different then supplying textures for buildings.

Never said anything about giving away everything from maps, but examples from some of the more detailed maps would be nice, specifically the city, door widths, window widths, ect to keep it looking very similar to the city we played thru, but whatever. It ain't that hard to eye it anyways.

don't know if this helps, but for my road i figured the road was approximately 275 units width across (well actually 274.85 for my road). obviously you may want yours wider or narrower depending on artistic license of course.

Don't you think that would be boring? I mean if they sort of "set the standards" every window would eventually look the same..

You shouldn't be using doorways too often in DM maps; it slows down gameplay way too much.
