Wierd stuff when playing Far Cry

i was playing far cry on my newly installed 6600 GT when this thing happened. the surface kept dispearing into black. my driver is 81.85 and my far cry is not patched yet. here are the pics.

Uninstall and reinstall drivers and make sure DirectX is updated.

install newest driver and patch up Farcry. Don't use highest possible settings for the game. I had the same problem as you, and doing what I just mentioned helped.

If anything, patch up game, and then try it with just that

i tried installing the new patch and when i click next after selecting a destination to install the patch, it doesn respond. should i rollback my nvidia driver to v77?

you have to install v1.3 first before installing the others

i tried to instal 1.31 but it wont let me. and for HL2, how do i change the hardware directx level to 9.0? its locked at 7.0 right now.

the stock version of farcry has no support for 6600 or 6800 and higher nvidia cards, you have to patch the game for it to run properly.

If you check the box for DOOM3, there doesn't seem to be support for 6600's, but it works fine for some reason

Why wouldn't it? If it listed ANY 6 series nVidia card, then all should work.

heck, ill play it at medium quality. hl2 works fine now, but i need to upgrade my RAM and maybe processor to play at high quality.
