wierd things happening

Half life 2 runs really nice on my comp but sometimes there are short pauses where the game stops for about 2 seconds and then starts again. Also my guns are invisible. Does anyone know how to sort these problems?

You might have uneeded programs going off in the background like a virus scanner.

A bad case of spyware perhaps?

Also if you have the console enabled when you get a stutter check what it said in the console. If it said something about autosaves the stuttering is because of the autosaves and the tiny stutter(mine is about 1/10 of a second) is normal but if it's a couple of seconds there is probabbly an underlying problem.
