Hey, I want to buy a GeForce 6800GT 256MB. I was wondering if this PSU will run it: Power Supply Bestec ATX-300-12E 300 Watt. I want to play HL2 with better resolution and graphics :frown: My current system specs are on my sig.

Well, IIRC, the 6800 GT has a power drain of over 60 watts. That is a significant fraction of your systems drain.

That power supply probably could run that card and your system, but it's not recommended. I'd say a 350 is the minimum for just about any normal non-mini form factor system. Better, higher-power PSU's will overclock higher, be more stable, last longer, and be better for your components. If you do overclock, you could benefit from a PSU up to 500 watts, and even now a 400 would be a good improvement.

I would recomment power supply of 430 or higher, 9800 pro alon sucks a lot of power and needs seperate power cord to be attached.

I have a 350 Watt PSU and my 9800 PRO runs perfectly. There is no bottlenecking or anything. I would recommend 300 or higher.
