hi there. the type of my motherboard is asus p4b533 with a 4x agp slot. i am planning to get a new video card (for halflife 2 of course). i still dont know which card to get (9800 pro, x800, gf6800) but that shouldnt be discussed here. the problem is that all of these cards can use agp 8x.

the results of my seach in other forums and google tell me, that the cards will definately be working. but i have read many different oppinions whether the board will significantly slow down the video card. if i bought an expensive card like the x800 and the board would slow it down to half the speed, i wouldnt need to buy it, would i?

some people say, the frequency of agp 8x is too fast for the board anyways. some say it makes a difference. some say i wouldnt notice.

does anyone of you know more about this? thanx alot.

It doesn't really matter, maybe about 1-4% but tell us your processor. It is waste of money to buy a x800 or 6800 if your processor is something like athlon xp 2000+ unless you are updating your whole system soon. And have you thinked 6800le? Almost as cheap as 9800pro but can be turned into 6800 with rivatuner about 90% success.

Smaaps I'm using a R9800 pro on agp 4X and it doesn't change a thing, graphic card benchmarks such as the 3DMark series give me the same results as someone with a R9800 pro on agp 8X. Hope that helps :)
