Vil CS Source ever be released in retail/standalone version? I really dont care to much about Half-Life 2. Just take up plenty of space on my computer and stuff, so I would really like a stand alone edition. CZ and 1.6 comes in this version, so why not source?

easy wa to get round this

uninstall half life 2, when u load up steam itl just download the halflife 2 engine
so u can play the games

as ur aco**** is already verified this should work np

its like when i formatted my comp and downlaoded only cs 1.6 ages ago it still plays cos steam just gets the files it needs

Thomas what have moderators said about going around bans??? And why can't you just buy hl2, you can delete the content and not worry about it ever again.

If they release a stand alone version, will it be possible to buy the game in the store so i dont have to download it trough Steam every time I want to install it?

You meen stand alone from steam, no they would never do that. If you mean the content on disc they already have that halflife 2 retail comes with cs:s on the disc, although you will have to download the updates

Yes, I have the game. I normally play against bots and have a poor connection, so I want them to release a updated retail version in the stores so i DONT have to download a bunch of updates every time I reinstall my game, or install it on a new computer.

You want to pay for a game again, just because you want the new updates? There's like a new update every 3 weeks BTW.

I sincerely hope that this non-interest in HL2 is because you've played through it already and don't want to again. It always bothered me how many people I encountered that bought the original Half-Life JUST to download and play counter-strike. I'm like "wtf you've got an amazing game you paid for and you're not even bothering to try it. It's just such a waste. It's like when a kid gets a big present and they're only playing with the box.

i respect that comment plus the fact that HL2 stand-alone game is awesome :D But I find no fault in buying HL2 for just the CS:Source portion... If i wanted to drop $50 and use the HL2 as an ornamental piece on my christmas tree~ then thats my decision bc I derive the most value from it as an ornamental piece. I am using an extreme example here but I am just trying to make the point that if someone buys something with their hard-earned cash, they should have the right to enjoy it the way they want to... i aint sh!tting on this thread or your comment-- just adding my point of view :E

As far as I know, most of the CSS maps use HL2 models, textures, sounds (probably) and maybe some other stuff. Valve would have to recompile all the maps again just to change all this which would be just pointless.

... or just include those models with the retail version of CS:S. :upstare:

And there will be some sort of multiplayer pack with CS:S, DoD:S and HL2DM published by EA.

You can say shit here.

Shit shit shit shit shit Bullshit.

Back on topic...

I agree with you. If I spend my money on a Dell just to go out to the middle of the ocean and shove a quart stick in it, that's my decision. I paid for it, and however I use it, so long as it gives me pleasure, is not a waste at all.

Although I yet again agree that 'tis a shame that somebody would buy the the set for the lesser of the two.

But, to each his own eh?
