The recent trend is games being leaked gold, or close to gold, a few days of weeks before the release. Do you think that HL2 will be leaked again?

I say no
 
1 it needs activation
2 i doubt it gets cracked
3 same for the activation crack there wont be one
4 half-life 2 was stolen not leaked

and the change it leaks is 1%
 
nothing is impossible...this is especially within the realms of reality. It could happen but probably so close to release date no one cares. i don't even care!
 
It's probably going to leak as soon as copies are shipped to stores.

I cant believe its not leaked already.

Remember, it has to go to the duplicators. Its the folks who work there that leak games.
 
it will definatley be illegally distributed

the protection will be bypassed

but whether this will happen before or after the official release is the real question
 
I say it will be leaked, but the leak will be unplayable due to online registry.

I will bet good money there will not be a playable release until November 16th. I am sure valve was smart enough to leave some essential part of the game out, making cracking impossible.
 
the cracked version of cs:s bypasses the online check because steam is somehow authenticated locally, so its able to run... and then connect to legit servers :(

i have a legit copy of cs:s

Let's see, first you have to find out how to decrypt the game's file. 128-bit or 256-bit encryption to my knowledge is very hard to crack without networking many processors together. If someone can get past that difficult part, there's the online activation. If someone tries activating it through Steam, they will hopefully get their Steam account banned because it is not November 16 yet. These anti-piracy measures are way better than relying on that joke called CD copyright protection. If you're complaining about these measures, you're either
a) Impatient.
b) Want to pirate the game. (enjoy CS:Source while you can, you 14 year old lamers)
c) On 56k, purchased the game through Steam, and won't be finished pre-loading until next year.
 
I have no doubt that it will be 'released' by the warez community.
I don't think this will occur until after the 16th however..
Say the 18th
 
i think if it gets leaked by someone who works in the production of the discs, or in distribution, they are going to get caught. I hope it does get leaked, so they can catch him/her/they.
Then, hopefully, as an award to all of us who have been waiting so patiently with gigs already preloaded, they unlock the game.
 
It WILL be leaked, HL2 isnt different from every other god forsaken game on the planet that gets warezed, deal with it.

itll be cracked fairly quickly two, rls groups evidentally get a bit of a boner from being the first to crack and release and there will be plenty of em working on this title, you can bet your house on it.

Prediction: as soon as its sent out to distributors, or even earlier it will be cracked and released
 
im on 56k, im gettin hl2 retail so har har...i dont think it will be leaked.
 
Yes, it will. Games always get leaked before release. As soon as stores get their orders, it will be out and on the internet with a crack within a day or two, probably less.
 
maybe not before 16th, but definately after. People who think the anti-piracy in HL2 is some sort of awesome unhackable iron curtain are, as my good friend puts it, toolbags
 
It will get leaked like Counter Strike Source, and someone will figure out how to make a dummy steam client running in the background, which trick HL2 into thinking that it's November the 16th when it isn't, so the game becomes playable.
 
I voted that it will be leaked, but I doubt anyone will be able to do anything with it, without activation

Possibly. I wouldn't worry about it, it happens all the time.
 
It will leak just like every game leaks and it can be cracked too. How do you think those shitheads in css with names like emporio are using. :bonce:
 
i think it will be leaked but if you cant wait to the 16th then your a ****ing idiot,and if ya gonna get it off the internet illegally cause you cant be bothered paying for it then you dont deserve to live.
 
I'll say no. Valve were so badly burned last time they'll have security up the wazoo.

Besides which, doesn't the Steam activation step mean that it's even more difficult to leak?
 
well, being leaked won't be any harder. it will just have to be cracked first, instead of simply being straight uploaded onto the internet, like doom3 etc.

so a leak may not go to well unless they crack the protection very fast.
 
obviously hl2 will get leaked, games always get leaked during Gold time. any worker in the cd production factory can just pick one of hte cd's up, rip it, send it to crack groups. its not recket science, ic an't believe so many people are dumb enough to believe it won't get cracked.

atm people are playing cs:s online without even any cdkeys, that's how easy it is to hax stuff.
