Will HL2 make G.O.T.Y?

Well I assume it will be halo 2 because Hl2 won't be out in 2004.. :flame: because if it were going to come out Valve would give us a date. And the dates at every store wouldn't change on a daily basis. What are all these magazines going to do?? They write their G.O.T.Y. issues in like 2 weeks??? Can they take the chance and say HL2 even though VU might shaft it till march??? I
I heard a rumor at e.b. that they were focusing on halo2 because they are certain of it and can count on the revenue this 1/4.. and are not concerned about hl2,,"if it happens it happens"

Rome total war looking pretty good for G.O.T.Y at C&G and PCGMR
 
Halo is the most boring run and gun game i have ever played...
 
XBOX is for little kids that don't know how to operate a PC. J/K. Valve can't announce a release date for HL2 until VUG gives them one so they are waiting just like we are waiting to hear back from VUG about a date. The RC was sent, it was obviously accepted since there are 5 reviews in pc mags over HL2, VUG is the only factor that stands in valves way. I would buy halo2 or rent it but I don't like games with aliens and I would never play and fps on a console. So there. It is obvious stores are preparing for halo2 over half life 2. We will just have to wait and see.
 
Okay, so if I've understood your post correctly, some magazine is doing a GOTY review and you think it is Halo 2?

And HL2 will probably be out in 2004, even though it might be the later parts of it.

Not quite the most boring, but it's certainly up there.

It had some good points though. Maybe they'll manage to isolate those and capitalise on them in the sequel. I'm not at all excited about it though.
 
ehh

maybe console game of the year at the most actually i think GTA:SA would be more fun....only thing that was coo with halo was co-op rest the game kinda a bore :rolling:

But I'm not suggesting that it will come it in 2004, I'm saying:

HL2 will be out in 2004
 
well if halo 2 is anything like halo, then half life 2 has nothing to worry about, i think halo 2 is gunna be even more overrated than the original was

FPS in general get less preference in GOTY awards. Halo and Half-life didn't win as many awards as GTA III or Zelda(s).

Anyway - PC mags "might" favour HL2, but general review sites like gamespot and IGN will favour console games like MGS 3, GTA:SA and Halo 2.
 
I know hl2 is going to be the better game, but halo fanboys....

halo is ok, but we all gotta agree its overated.

LOL. It is a console game. It might be game of the year on consoles but you can't compare it to a pc game. Remember the pc version of Halo. Total waste of hd space. That game was so buggy. I would buy gta.sa over halo. Halo was so boring. Why would you want to play a FPS on a console anyways. Consoles are for little kids who do not know how to operate a pc and for sport games.
 
do you guys think that valve has sent css, hls and hl2 as separate things for testing or all one package.

I hate logic like that. Both platforms are good for different things. I have every console known to man, and I like them just as much as my PC.

I'm tellin ya if I'm vug I'm holding hl2 hostage for 6months till valve cuts me in on the $$$ from steam,, No matter what.. Because If I was ceo of vug and I saw even the threat of 1$ loss in sales because of steam I would demand and want a part of the pie... Because it's all about the money and not about the consumers.. That is why I believe hl2 not G.o.t.y,,, Maybe they will put an * next to it.

/ * if vug released when valve sent rc, this magazine cannot be held accountable for corporate greed..

Here's a question: is there any benefit to Valve for having their game chosen as GOTY? A little more publicity can't hurt HL2, but at the same time, won't almost all gamers eventually own it anyway?

Far Cry sucked. Really, it wasn't that good. I still don't understand why people drool over it.

Halo was rushed, and it shows in the repetitive levels. Halo 2 is not rushed, and will not be repetitive.
 
I'm just hoping it's actually released this year. I'll worry about the awards later.

yeah i'd like some too. i care when it comes out, kinda, but now that so much crap has transpired, i don't care exactly when. All i want is a date so i know when i need to go to the store, or when i should start STEAM, you know, like mark it on the calender and call it done...this whole fiasco just makes me think "poor planning..poor, poor planning."
 
Saying that HL2 will be released in 2005 is like saying there is no Santa. In other words, impossible! :p
 
People used to say that about manned flight too, at one point.

I'd trust Icarus. He's under a whole lotta NDAs, and has inside scoops.. remember his PC Gamer exclusive sneak peek? That was just part of it. I'd say that's sufficient proof, even if he can't provide any details.
