This might be the wrong forum but will VAVLe use Linux binaries for HL2?

ok now the mods can delete this thread, I have the answer

u may be able to get it working with cedega, but there will be no native linux binaries for the client
there will be linux server binaries.
don't ask them to reconsider, it won't happen.

Yeah, there's been a ton of threads about this already. Server yes, client no, possibility of getting it to work with a suitable directX compatibility layer. The end :)

What about the server software any one know? I cant belive steam is running on MS 2003 :)

winex/cedega can run DirectX9 games. so i guess its possible

they got doom 3 and UT2004 running on it, so i think HL2 won't be a problem.

As before, (the second thread regarding HL2 on linux) , seeing as HL2 can run many DX codepaths I am sure it will work upon release, with DX7/8 if 9 doesn't run it.

Well Half-life wasn't hard to get up running on linux. So maybe Half-life 2 will be possible too.

ah... directX 9 don't work too well under cedega atm. dx7/dx8 mebbe
