will my pc run DOOM III on ATI Radeon 9800XT and 2.66 Ghz
512 Ram DDR at high quality?

No. Doom3 requires 2 years of indentured servitude in Malaysia in order to boot. You need a reverse boomerang and a half a white monkey to even see the autoplay splash screen. You have my deepest comiserations. Find somebody with a whole white monkey and you may be able to split it with them. Thanks, come again.

That was the funniest thing I've heard all week.

Ya, dont listen to them. You will be able to run it at 1024x768 at high settings with about 20-30 fps, which is perfectly playable in Doom 3.

Um, when I tested doom3, I ran it on high, 1024x768 with 2x AA on a xp1700+ @ 2100mhz, 9700pro and 512mb ram. So the answer is yes

absolutely, should run fine at about 40+ fps at HIGH QUALITY and at a resolution of 1280x1024.

how do I know this? well my second comp is the exact same specs (sans its a 9800 pro, instead of XT)

10x dude ! i will hurry to buy ATI Radeon 9800XT !

don't mean to over complicate things but if you haven't bought the 9800 xt yet i would avoid it as for what you get it is very expensive, for a few pounds/dollars more i tihnk you can get a vanilla Geforce 6800 which will out perform the 9800xt in doom 3 and most likely HL2.

i know that in HL2 It will run good than Doom 3 and i buy ATI Radeon 9800XT
in 200$

Stick another 512mb memory in and you'll definitely be able to play at high quality and get a near constant 40fps plus @ 1024 768 , Doom 3 is very forgiving on lower spec pc's as long as it has 1gb Ram

I was worrying that my lower spec pc wouldn’t play doom 3 at a decent speed, I thought I'd definitely have to upgrade before halflife2 but I'm no longer worried as I know my pc will play hl2 fine , which gives me plenty of time to save some cash for an upgrade around xmas

my spec
1900+ XP
1gb ddr Kingston hyperx
Geforce 4 ti 4200 128mb

So anyone with similar specs should not worry to much unless your a FPS junkie and find a game unplayable around a constant 40fps.

I tried playing with only 512 ddr last night and the performace dropped almost in half so 1gb is a must for the lower end user like myself
