will the Nintendo Wii be sold out the day it is released?

Not sure if I'll buy a Wii. The games don't look that good except for Far Cry: Insticts, but I already have a very similar game on my PC.... Mario Galaxy won't be released until next year so... Just wondering if this system is expected to be sold out the first day of its release.

Apparently the guys over at the Nintendo Store in NYC don't think that the Wii is going to be sold out the first day, at least at their store. They say they believe they will have enough for walk-ins. However, by the next day they expect them to be gone.

I would assume that it will be gone very very shortly after store's opening.

Who cares what games come out ... it's cheap, versatile and gimmicky... and even if the worst scenario happens, you've still got your drunken sword games with your mates at 3am ... and that's worth it in anyones book.

Hear hear, Wii is every college students wet dream. Affordable and every girl can pick it up easily. PS3 is for the live with their parents-want a $600 Christmas gift kids. There's no question that the PS3 will be hot once the price comes down, but if Microsoft is smart, by the time the PS3 starts coming down in price, they'll start hyping their new console. Dreamcast all over again .

Nothing ever does in my town of 10,000 people. We don't even have a gamestop or anything. Wal-Mart and Target are the biggest things we got for electronic stores.

Then our entire city hates Wal-Mart for trying to get a Super Wal-Mart into the town for the past...idk... 6/7 years? It just wont happen, but Wal-Mart wont give up.

Both the EB's in my town had to put up signs at the entrance to the store:

Most places will sell out. There's always gonna be the smaller markets where some units are left, but overall it will sell like any other launch console.

One of the main reasons why I pre-ordered a PS3 and not a Wii is because the PS3 is much more harder to get. I can assure you I am getting a Wii but there will be much more supply than the PS3.

I don't think it can sell-out in an entire province. Atleast, I hope not, or else I can't buy (steal) a Wii from the store (friends).

lol, for some reason I didn't realize you were talking specifically about the Wii, and not just "any platform that's not PS3".

My nearest Game store has sold out until January. It's probably because it's the only decent game store in our town.

I doubt it will in my area, but northern VA always surprises me with its seemingly infinite amount of residents, so who knows. It probably won't affect me anyway, I'm either asking for it for Christmas or my birthday(Febuary).

Well, I think most of you Americans should be ok. If theres a Best Buy near then you'll probably be able to get one. Apparently they will be stocking 24-120 Wii's per store. So get your asses down to Best Buy.
