expensive but since it runs winxp tablet os it can double as a work tool ..that is if graphic apps jump on board.

Depends on what sort of graphics card it has. I doubt it'll be 3d accelerated to the extent that you can play modern fps on it.

I assume that it comes with a stylus, which means yeah it would be a good tablet. Especially if you can plug it into your computer and use it as a tablet that way.

Sounds about as useful as an asshole right here....*points at elbow*. I'm sure for some people it would be quite useful, but not for me. I don't work on the road and the last thing I want to be around in my free time is another PC.

Sounds like crap to me. There are tiny laptops out right now with virtually all of that functionality already. What in the heck is their point of difference???

If they wanted to really make things interesting, they would take major losses by cutting the price of these things to compete with other similar devices, but making it as expensive as much better laptops seems stupid as hell. MS always has such great ambitions but always fall short in reality. Its a shame because I was very excited for this! :sniper:

yes but books can be read from a screen ...besides who has time to read a few chapters while sitting on the throne? red ring hurts after awhile, not too mention chafing, pins and needles, and the ever present threat of something as small as a novel taking a plunge into murky waters below :O

Never has such a statement been true in more ways i care to mention since the beginning of the universe and the first...push . I like reading material, but a minature computer or a UMPC as they call it sounds infinitely better. All the videos and things so far have impressed me greatly, i've joined their community to keep tabs on it. Stern we can both uphold the hype even if no one else wants to. We could email each other from our toilets? Can't wait.

I remain unconvinced. The proof of the Portable Pocket Pudding is in the Portable Pocket Eating.

I'm far more interested in the idea of a 'reader'. A small PC that will download and carry thousands of books on its memory. But the output device will not be a traditional screen but rather a sheet of synthetic paper-like material that acts like a screen (ink dots or something, I guess). So it's like having the surface of a book's page set flush in a plastic tablet and having loads and loads of books without having to root around for them in second-hand stores.

I read a newspaper article on it. Next two years possible, they say! :O
