Just outta curiosity... whats BIA?

"Brothers in Arms" - a WWII shooter by Gearbox, the guys who made blue shift and OP4, its apparently really good (even for a WWII game!)

I don't have a date for you guys for a demo.

We do plan on doing one.

I don't know if it will come out before, during or just after the PC launch.

Obviously we didn't beat the North American Xbox launch.

On the upside, the reviews are starting to come in - these should help you guys get a sense about the quality of the game since it's hard to wait to make a buying decision.

I wish I could have more precise details about a demo for you, but we have a lot of things we're doing right now.

There is a ton of post launch work for us to do.

Things on our plates:

- A billion crazy foriegn language versions. Which of you are buying the Hungarian version?
- Mod kit / SDK discussions. You guys want this, right?
- Mac version. Halo was the best selling Mac game in the last five years or so. Let's see if BiA can beat that.
- Demo. Yes, it will happen.
- PC version update around launch time (real world test of the autoupdater and provide a few quickies people will want or need).
- Eat, sleep, etc.

These items are not in order of priority - except for "Eat, sleep, etc." That always seems to come last for us.

Found at the BIA forums.

I knew my comment would attract someone with real information...

Im saving money for for an Island so I dont know if I will get it.

i played it on Xbox
and i will get it for PC
this game simply rocks !

I won't buy it. I won't buy any FPS games developed for consoles and then ported to PC. They don't feel right. Having said that though if the demo is high quality I'd rethink my position.

Didn't know it was designed specifically for console? From the impression I got it's been simultaneously developed, hence why (In the UK at least) both PC and Xbox versions are out on the same day.

pc version is DVD only, I'm probably one of the few this will affect

hmmm food in my kids mouth or a dvd burner :) ..choice is pretty easy ..nah ..actually I havent been bothered to purchase one ..and now I cant justfy $75 for a burner AND $49 for a game when it could go to better uses ...like my kids university fund. I'm not really complaining ..I'm sick of installing 5 disks per game ..I welcome a move to dvd ..just havent gotten around to buying one yet

If you want a game to be able to be played on three platforms you have to design the game to play well on the weakest system. Unfortunately you would be wasting features/hardware that the stronger systems could take advantage of.

If you design a cutting edge PC game and you want it to work on the consoles you have to make extreme changes to the game in order for it to run properly on the consoles. You have to remove features, texture quality and sound quality to bring it down to the console level.

You can't take one game and have it run well on each system while at the same time taking full advantage of all of the hardware unless you make very large and fundamental changes.

This isn't to say that this game can't be successfull and/or fun. If I had to guess though I'll bet this game just won't feel right on the PC. I'll be more than willing to try it before I make that final decision though.
