will this comp run HL2?

Specs:
Intel 1.7 gigz processor
GeForce 4 MX440 64MB
256MB RAM
AC'97 Sound Card

Are you guys serious??? Can you run Farcry on that system with a good framerate? What games are you playing with that system, cause, not to be rude but, That card is a pile, and is 2x maybe 4x max, Your processor is marginal, and that generation chip/Mobo is prolly like 266MHz bus.. I'm not trying to be negative, but I've built Gaming PC's for a multiple of friends over the past 5 years, Done just about every tweak known to this point... I'd say, At Least, at Least switch that vid card out for at least something like ATI 9600 Pro, which is going for only about $140 US right now....

Youll be able to run it on low, maybe medium graphics settings. An upgrade is highly advisable though.

It will run at > 30 fps, but you'll be limited to DX7 and won't get any fancy effects or bumpmapping.

only problem is i have NO MONEY and im only 15 :bonce:

but Far Cry lags with most PC's and FC's engine sucks, cause i run CoD full everything smooth as can be and i can even somehow run Painkiller and most FPS' i get i can run on atleast medium with minimal-some lag. plus, HL2 is NOT like Far Cry.

heh, hl2 has better GFX than you realise, also, it should run quite well on that spec. Look to upgrade your GFX card and memory if you can.

Whoa, do you even know what you are saying. The Farcry engine is incredible. It runs well on any HALF DECENT system out there, the problem is your computer specs are complete garbage, no offence.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHHAHHAH! Your joking right? CoD is basically a modified quake 3 engine. LOL. Farcry runs on the Cry engine, which is easily one of the best engines (graphically) out there. Yes the engine is demanding, but that is not reason to say the engine is crappy or poorly programmed, when the truth of the matter is it is your system that is crappy.

I' am not sure what your trying to say here. HL2 has although not the best, has some graphical techniques that set it apart from most games out there (with emphasis on CoD and painkiller LOL, which are basically old sub par graphics - relatively).

I' am not flaming, but I just get mad when people blame developers for their great work, when it is actually their systems that are trash. Basically with a system like that, running games like farcry are in a sense cheating, because farcry is far beyond you (for it to run as it should, with good fps). I understand you don't have money and thats why you have a garbage setup and that is fine, but don't blame the developers for the hole in your wallet.

It will be playable. Those are the specs I had for a while on my comp. Up grading one thing wont do you much good. I now have a 5900 with no improvement in graphics. The cpu can't keep up with graphics card. :frown:
