It only takes one person to have it. People are saying 'just because one person has it doesn't mean it is going to be unlocked'. But how many others have it? How many will get it today since it's out in some stores? How many stores are going to say 'well that store down the road is selling it we might aswell'. This one person may of caused a chain reaction which may cause HL2 to be unlocked early...

Thoughts?

why dont we sit tight and wait, in 4 days none of this will matter! 4 days man!

I am really unsure.. But so I don't let myself down, I said no.

Although it would be the most Godly thing ever if it was unlocked tomorrow. (Or Saturday)

Actually someone on r3d boards has the game and it still says "coming soon" for him and won't let him play it.

Yeah you can't play it duh...but anyway..5 days! :bounce:

4 days wtf are you talking about? what do you have a 5 day calander in the UK?

I'd like to think we will, so I voted yes, but to be honest I doubt it.

I really hate it when poll answers put words into my mouth.

No, but NOT because I'm negative, for f'cks sake. No because it would be stupid for VALVe to unlock it early, no matter what this Steve guy thinks that somebody from VALVe said.

VALVe has gone thrugh great lengths to get a universal release time! Why would they f'ck that up just to reward some punks who broke the street date? Makes no sense at all.

No, I have a US calender that is 7 days...It's 4 days and something hours but I just round it to 5 days.

If the game is mass distrubuted, by several stores in several countries, during today and over the course of tommarow, you have a slight, atomed shaped chance of such a miracle happening on this street.

I say, no. As Fluke said, they set date and probably dont wanna break it. But if its broken already, and tons of unaware customers are installing, under the assumption they get to play after wards, Valve might release. I am generally negative, remember that.

ANyhow, a good point is, If stores are selling it early, that means VUG is facking up, and we all know Valve and Vug are at each others necks. So, if Valve says VUG is selling the games early to rack a bigger box sale, im sure, in the contract, and in morale and blood lust against VUG, they too can release it early, to match the unchecked retail disturbution. Its all about the dough...

Steve from Shack news seems as though he is half intelligent. Now why will he put that statement out of no where?

This must be a sticky situation for Valve. Because I think if people are buying a game and they can't play it. I think that is a bit illegal in itself. But if they unlock it early they may get in trouble from Vivendi. So what do they do? Anyone know the law behind this?

Because when you buy a game you don't 'own' the game right? It's like a lease agreement. You are approved to play the game from Valve. Valve OWNS the game. So I guess when you buy the game you actually also sign a lease agreement saying you are allowed to play it. But people can't. Broken agreement there and then...

Heres my theory. VALVe: "If people get their hands on HL2 before the release date, we'll unlock it", whereas they meant working leaked final warez, not an unplayable retail copy.

Thats all on the retailer, not on VALVe. If anybody trys to sue VALVe/VUg, they'll just turn around and sue the retailer. Not gonna happen anyways.

Yeah no one will be suing the retailers. I mean you can't play the game anyway. lol. So it's not that big of deal.
