I know I would love to see it - getting bots in game is up there on my wish list with less linear maps and leaning.
It seems like such an obvious thing to include in any game and yet here we are with no offline capacity or even bots to play coop against.
I know alot of people view steam games with a multiplayer bias but having singleplayer in DODS would be awesome

I agree. I can't think of how many times I wished DoD:S had a SP campaign. I don't think it's likely though, Valve is busy with other work.

Good news on other ends; TF2 may have an SP campaign. It's under discushens at Valve... or at least was.

TF2 might have sp?!°0 wtf are you talkin about. They're doing tf:source, but jst using the hype from tf2. I read on ign gabe had announced tf:source at the e3 '04...Now, either they stopped developing tf2, or they will find out they will have to cancel tf:source, cause they already got one XD
b2t, dod:sp would rock...Although they already said that the market is flodded, and you'd better be off buying cod...But the lack of non-online playing capacity is really a tough topic to discuss... sp-components would be a reason more to buy the game, while at the moment you still have to look for full servers..

I think it was on an interview in CVG. Google it.

EDIT: Found it. It's here. Read the 'Where's Austin?' part.

In the old days of Battlefield 1942, it had a single player campain. It was pretty lackluster. Playing with bots isn't on par with player against other people; they were very stupid.

But I found "Although Day of Defeat is primarily multiplayer online, an offline mode with user-created bots (computer-controlled opponents) can also be played." on the Bots section of the DoD wikipedia article.

Hmm I guess it would, but since the original mod didn't have a SP component...Source doesn't either. :/

If you had a SP mode in CSS it would be like CS:CZ and that is the only one of the CS games I have disliked. Would be good to see a DoD one though.

What exactly do you mean by campaign?

Being able to play against intelligent Bots in Offline mode exactly like you can with CSS would be great, nothing more is needed...

I doubt it......I feel like it would end up like another run and gun WWII shooter.....

Just curious, WHY???

WHY WHY WHY???

I never understood the need for bots, when somebody can play online.

Obviously for people who don't have broadband and can't always play online...
Or people trying to get a wireless connection but being slightly too far out of range for online play and having to play CSS with bots for a month before they finally give up and move my computer closer and use a really long ethernet cord instead...

(lolz I did a peter griffin)

i can' find any info on when Valve is going to update DoD to have cinema effects....can anyone tell me?

SP could be fun if you had a CO-OP campaign :p
