Me and a friend have been playing a lot of gmod 9 recently. I'm not sure when gmod 10 (the first version you have to pay for ~US $10) comes out but I was curious - how many people play gmod now and how many will pay for gmod 10?

Yes, although I never play Gmod at all.

paying for a sandbox modification seems very wrong unless the package includes some seriously polished game modes
not my type of game anyhow

It was a passing fad, but once you've played it till you're bored of it, there's really no fun in playing it further. I'll see some reviews and check out the new features before deciding if it's worth parting with my hard earned cash.

Nope, I'm happy with GMod 9. Perhaps in the future though.

Most likely will not pay a cent for it.

I think Gmod 10 represents more than the features that it ships with - the lua implementation is frankly fantastic - you can build entire new games far more simply than you can with the SDK.

Yes, I will be buying it. He better hurry the **** up though.

He said he was ready in September, just Steam wasn't. Said so on his blog, he's waiting for Steam.

Lots of stuff. I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to say (although he has posted a lot of it on his blog). The whole lua system has been rewritten, existing features have been stabilised and improved etc.

Definitely. Been following every release since 4. I still play it occasionally. And I reckon this new release will really bring a whole new level of playability to procedings.

I was going to say the same thing just in a diferant way.

I haven't gotten into Gmod, so unless there is ground breaking things in Gmod10 then I'm probably not buying...

There's a bunch of great user created mods free for download, I'm happy with that.
