Will you buy HL2 via steam?

Hey peeps,

Just a quick poll to ascertain how many forum frequenters have pre-ordered and how many would buy the game via Steam if the retail release is delayed (even if you have already pre-ordered).

Any comments would be interesting to see. :thumbs:

For clarification, I pre-ordered the retail version in July, I've waited this long, if it turns up on the 30th then that's great, if not, I'm happy to wait longer (but not too long)

I didn't pre-order simply because retailers have had no clue as to the release date of the game since it was announced and I don't think I can trust them to get the shipments in in advance. And also their pitiful attempts to look like they know more than us to conn people into preordering with them have pissed me off a tad.

I'll see what the situation is with the precaching via steam and if necassary get down the shops first thing on the 30th (or whenever) and buy that way.

i'm counting on my good friend who works in Game to break the news to me that they've recieved HL2 by screaming "HAHA WE HAVE THE GAME NAH NAH NA NAH NAH" while being repeatedly prodded

but yeah i'll prolly get it via Steam if the retail release is delayed (counting on the fact that the Steam release won't be)

I'd rather walk in some place and make sure I get the version I want and have it the day it's available in my area. I'd really prefer the hard copy of the game.

Even if it came out on steam a month (or more for that matter) ahead of the store release, I'd still wait.

I've pre-ordered via my local EB retailer. If it's not in stores when it has been released on Steam I'll go for a monthly subscription to Steam until it's availible in stores, at which point I'll buy it.

Since I (as I said serveral times on the IRC-chat) am going to buy a new graphics driver at the end of this month I won't get it until the middle of next month (...probably later...), I prefer the game being delayed, so I don't have to suffer playing the game at a low-end DX7-driver like my GeForce2 TI.
