Essentially, this website takes your address and predicts the liklihood of one of threehundred One-Megaton warhead detonating near your city. It will give you a 1-10 rating and detailed statistics of how your city fared.

My City Rated.

(4/10)

Shockwave: None
Heat Blast: None
Fallout: Glowing

4/10, but knowing the winds, I'd be ****ed in a matter of minutes. I'd have to leave within the blast time and travel really quickly because the average wind of Lake Erie would be a big time suck for a lot of people. I'd head EAST then South and I'd have to keep heading south for at least 200 miles

Jackson - 8/10

Shockwave: Blasted
Heat Blast: Charred
Fallout: Glowing Brightly

Huh. Who would waste a bomb on this shithole? Sure, it needs to be, but really.

and i think my city would be near the major blast site tbh. buffalo is near niagara falls and our hydro-powered Mohawk station fuels NYC and that would be a desirable target.

Got a 4. Pretty high considering the effects. The worst we'd get according to this is temporary reduction of immune system function, and temporary male sterility. Maybe a couple deaths 9 months later when we hit 130 rads, but that would probably just be the old and people already weak immune systems, and then some nausea for everyone else. Oh no not nausea! Pretty much every month before and after the 9th month is business as usual.

EDIT: Holy ****. My family back in Connecticut is screwed though. 100% get third degree burns with medium to high chances of death from the burns. Their ****ing clothes will ignite or melt, most of the buildings will collapse since they're mostly brick structures, and everyone will be hit with 1300 rads of radiation, 100% chance of death.

God... damn.

DISTRESSED: 2/10

Shockwave: None
HeatBlast: None
Fallout: Pale Glow

EDIT> At least there's some perks to living in the sticks eh? Ya'll city slickers is f****ked.

Ha, thank god i don't live in america.

4/10 at home
8/10 at college
So much for your hopes and dreams of graduating at that college. :D

btw, Wiki says that some of Fallout 3's Capital Wasteland takes place in some parts of Maryland.

Ha, thank god i don't live in america.

Why? When the nuclear war starts, everyones going to send one of their many excess nukes over to Australia just for the hell of it. I mean, we're not going to be able to use all the nukes we have before we're all dead, so why not just send a couple to places that think they're better than everyone else.

^I endorse this idea.

btw, what do the ratings say for cities that score 10/10?

Shockwave: F**ked
HeatBlast: F**ked
Fallout: F**ked

Yeah I've heard of them...don't recognize any though D:

Now I don't even get to know what it's like to die a painful, radiated death. I love living in the middle of nowhere.

I live near Dallas. There's no way they're dropping just a bunch of one megatons on this city.

Nope. They're going to create and detonate a gigaton nuclear device.

Anyway...

Wrecked (6 of 10)

4/10 at home

8/10 at work...working right next to boston will do that i suppose

this is a much better website that gives you a choice in types of nukes plus an asteroid (sorry headcrab pie)

http://www.carloslabs.com/node/16

the site in the OP only covers america ..which kinda makes you wonder if that's because the likelihood of a nuke attack is greatest in the US

I'm far enough from downtown toronto that only an asteroid impact would immediately affect me ..of course it's probably much worse to die over a period of days/weeks than being instantly incinerated

10/10
What's the point of this? To me it looks like an excuse to >NOT< go outside.

I got 4, amazingly. I figured I'd be close enough to Kansas City to get some nice effects.

non america version kthx

I suppose they only made it american because america has the largest cache. Australia doesn't have nukes so yeh :P

Lol Australians think there better then everyone else? I am pretty sure that's the american stereotype, not australian.

oh and even though Australia doesn't have nukes, it has a large missile defence shield, there is your theory out the door.

nukes > missile defence shield.

BTW, why does every non-US country spell "defence" instead of "defense"?

When WWIII happens, I only hope that the enemy will be too busy nuking the US and other more delicious targets to notice my puny nation.

Hate to burst your bubble numbers,

but your country is the, "willing pawns of the capitalist, industrial, military complex" that is the US and is a prime target.

I was surprised Boston is only an 8/10, so I went looking until I found a 10/10 - Washington DC.

Overall Damage: Destroyed (10 of 10)
Shockwave: Blown Away
Heatblast: Charred
Fallout: Glowing Brightly

Third Degree Burns - 100%.
* High rate (80%) of third degree burns for those outside. Symptoms include:
o Damage to underlying muscle and bone
o Possible charring
o Severe scarring
o Severe nerve damage
o Probable infection
o Shock
* Medium to high rate of fatalities from burns
* Eye damage or blindness possible if looking in direction of blast
* Wooden buildings smolder or ignite
* Clothing may ignite or melt

Shockwave - 100%
The shock wave is most damaging at the site of the explosion. It acts like a very strong, very fast wind. Close to the explosion, it can topple skyscrapers and overturn vehicles. People are injured or killed when buildings collapse. The effect gets weaker the farther the shock wave travels from the center of the blast. The shock wave can be felt many miles from the explosion.

Shockwave Pressure Percent

1 PSI 1.15%

* Windows shatter
* Some trees knocked down
* Roof damage to many buildings
* Injuries mainly from flying glass or small objects

3 PSI 12.79%

* Wood frame structures collapse
* Nearly all trees knocked down
* Severe damage to airports and aircraft
* Serious injuries common
* Some fatalities

5 PSI 28.75%

* Brick and cinderblock buildings collapse
* Utility poles snap
* Nearly all power lines down
* Near 100% rate of serious injuries
* Fatalities common

10 PSI 20.81%

* Reinforced brick buildings collapse
* Highway and train bridges collapse
* Cars, trucks, and trains overturned or thrown
* High rate of fatalities

20 PSI 36.50%

* Multistory steel-framed buildings (skyscrapers) collapse
* Virtually no buildings left standing
* Ships sink or capsize
* Near 100% rate of fatalities

Radiation
The area close to the blast will be hit by powerful gamma rays. These gamma rays don't travel very far before becoming too weak to be dangerous. When living organisms are hit by gamma ray radiation, the effects can be harmful or fatal.

Radiation Percent
1000 Rads 34.64%
* Fatal radiation dose

Fallout

Fallout (within city boundaries.)
The explosion sucks up bits of the ground around the bomb, carries them high into the air, blasts them into tiny particles and irradiates them. These particles can be carried hundreds, or even thousands of miles, as they slowly drift down to earth in a a "fallout cloud." Where the cloud passes and lands, it showers radioactivity. Exposure to uncontrolled radioactivity can be harmful to living organisms. Because winds are very unpredictable, the fallout information shown here is based upon the average winds. Small changes in the wind can cause large changes in the results.

Month of Blast Average
Total Rad.* Description

January 6300 Rads

nukes > missile defence shield.

BTW, why does every non-US country spell "defence" instead of "defense"?

missile defence shield > nukes. It shoots down nukes before it reaches australia.

US english is different to other countries english.

My town got 4/10.

Shockwave: Shaken
Heat Blast: None
Fallout: Glowing

I live in Metro Atlanta, so I checked the actual city of Atlanta and I got:
8/10: Devastated
Shockwave: Blasted
Heat Blast: Charred
Fallout: Glowing Brightly

When WWIII happens, I only hope that the enemy will be too busy nuking the US and other more delicious targets to notice my puny nation.

Chances are NK will start it, so that may just be wishful thinking on your part. ;)

This doesn't work for the UK. But I looked up my favourite Americans and most of them would be stone dead. :(

Well looks like in the unlikely event that our capital is nuked I'll survive. No shock wave, thermal energy or fallout will reach me. My hometown is surrounded by mountains on all sides acting as a natural shield against fallout. :p
