Not that I wholly disagree with them...

Well, to be honest, he was 80 years old and VERY sick. I'm surprised he held out as long as he did, tough old guy. Hope he's in a better place now.Last One In said:First the hurricane, now this. It's safe to say that he would've retired later to give Bush another apointee, so it's not really a surprise that Bush is getting to replace him. O'Connor was a surprise though, to me at least. Maybe another will retire soon, too, who knows. I bet the next president (if it's 8 years) or one after that (If 4 years) gets like 4 apointees. Reagan got to do 4 if I believe.Absinthe said:Can't comment too much as I really don't know enough about him.
RIP
I'll also take this opportunity to pre-cringe at whoever Bush may now appoint. Anybody remember when Pat Robertson was praying for more open seats? Bet that shit's having a field day. "TEH WURK OF TEH LOARD"
Depends on who the other nominee is. If Bush appoints a right wing wacko Democrats have every right to block both nominations. If Bush is fair about the second one, which he won't be, I think Roberts would be a great addition to the supreme court.Last One In said:Roberts isn't a bad nominee.
