Win7 - Closing a game with Task Manager

When using XP, sometimes I had to use task manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) to select the game's exe and close a game that was no longer responding, or didn't have a proper way to quit the game.

However, with Windows 7, with some games, the Task Manager only opens momentarily, with not enough time to execute any command before the game steals full screen focus again. Trying again gets the same result. I'm worried I'll find one day that I have to turn off the power to my PC to get out of there.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Is there any way to keep this from happening?

Alt-Esc will minimize the game usually, letting you right click the entry on the startbar and close it. If anything, it will be faster than going through the task manager.

Also, you should probably make a "Virus' Windows 7 Questions" thread since you've got like, six threads asking questions just on the first page of Hardware and Software.

some games are bitches like that but alt esc usually works, i've only had to hard reset maybe once every couple years from a rare freeze.

Oh, nice, I'll remember to do that. I've actually never heard of Alt-Esc. Thanks! :D

How would I know if I'm going to have 6 questions at the beginning! Screw you doggy!

I've had good luck with alt-tabbing to the desktop or the task manager. Will try alt-esc if it happens again.

sure you have task manager set to always be on top?
