If you ever had problems with it, you would know how I feel. WinAntiVirus's developers plant a minor virus in your system, which makes all these fake pop-ups appear telling you to download this program. The developers get like $50 for it, and gain money for something that wont do anything.
Symptoms:
  • Fake pop-ups telling you your system is crap
  • Hijacks browsers (eg; if your in a long film on a browser, it can get hijacked, and you lose all you watched)
  • Slow pc

Most of this information I found on the net... whilst having WinAntiVirus popups. It also told me what to do: download, scan, register, get rid of.

Does anyone know a free way to get rid of that rubbish?

There is another one just like this. VirusBuster. It installs when you are trying to view those fake accounts on Myspace, the ones with the insanely hot chicks that want to add you to their friends...well, You open it up, and a big popup appears, "THIS SITE AS ADULT CONTENT, DOWNLOAD THE MYSPACE PROFILE VIEWER NOW!"...well, you install that, and you get a virus. It pops up on your task bar saying "You have virus like activity! Click here to get software needed to clean this!" or something.

Well, you click on the link, and it takes you to a site that wants you to buy VirusBuster. It takes a removal tool to get it, so why don't I look for a WinAniVirus removal tool for you.

*EDIT* Found this..hope it helps.
Hi. That WinAntivirus is a rogue antispyware progam associated with a trojan. I am not sure which removal procedure you should use, but there is one posted at bleeping computer. SEE:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18610&hl=Winfixer
I think you need to try to remove it from add/remove programs first, and then try removal procedures in safe mode.
Symantec and McAfee have removal instructions also, but my guess is that you may be unable to access their web sites because the trojan will block you. Here is the Symantec link that contains a removal tool:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.vundo.removal.tool.html
There are two McAfee links with related info:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_101169.htm
http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=57049
That forum post contains a removal tool.
Here is another link that contains a special removal tool.

I am posting the multiple links in case you are blocked from downloading at any of them. If all downloads fail, you can try to obtain Ewido by having a friend download Ewido and the signature file installer ona CD and then transferring it to your computer. There may be directions in this forum for that, but I am familiar with these:
http://castlecops.com/t137442-CCSP_Ewido_Install_and_Scan_Instructions.html
You need to try to download one of the special removal tools and use the instructions for it, and then scan with Ewido afterwards in safe mode. I hope this helps.
