Windowed mode mouse problem

So I usually play in windowed mode, but I tried maximizing the window, so that it takes up the whole screen, but so I can still see the clock et al. However I've noticed that where the mouse pointer is on the screen does not line up to where the pointer is in the program. For those confused if the mouse pointer was at position (x,y) then in the cs menu it would (for example) show up at position (x-2, y-4). Is there a fix or do I have to suffer in full screen?

Thanks

Just go into Options->Video and set the game to full screen mode and select the resolution of your desktop.

I think there might be a misunderstanding. I really don't want to run it full screen. I want to run it windowed but in a maximized window. Plus laptops, especially ones that are two years old, dont run intensive games on 1400x1050 resolution. Thanks anyways.

You mean the mouse cursor is actually showing up "on top" of the game in the wrong position? I would think it's supposed to disappear, try some crazy alt-tabbing to get rid of it or something.

Doesn't your laptop support anything lower than 1400x1050? Normally they support them, but the text looks all stretched and fudged up. Should be fine for games though.

Yeah that's the exact problem, but the task switching didn't work, I'm suprised because I would have thought it shouldn't matter. Maybe I'll go on Steam forums to ask as well. Thanks.

read that again, and think real hard about it. if you have a widescreen monitor you'll only be able to get close to being "maximized", as the native WS res's in CS are limited.

I run in a windowed mode too. But I don't maximize it to full screen. What you should do is load up Counter strike and go into options, and where it asks for your resolution put in your desktop resolution. That way it'll be windowed AND will be like full screen. Other than that all I can think of for getting rid of the overlapping mouse pointer is to go to console and back quickly so it grabs the mouse to the center again.
