Dont use their "Personal Firewall". I wanted to test it out on my computer, just for experimental purposes. During the installation my computer crashed and gave me a BSOD. This is the first time i have ever gotten a BSOD on a Windows 7 computer, so im quite appalled, especially because it was due to a simple firewall program?? When the computer rebooted it gave me another BSOD at the login screen. I went into safemode and removed the program and now things seems to be working properly. Did a virus scan too just in case but didn't find anything.

tldr: Dont use Lavasoft if you have Windows 7. Im using the RC btw.

Coming soon...

The current version Lavasoft Personal Firewall is not compatible with Windows 7, a Beta program which Lavasoft, like many software publishers, are currently working hard on ensuring compatibility in time for the Windows 7 launch.

The soon to be released version of the Lavasoft Personal Firewall will indeed be compatible and all customers with an existing license will get a free upgrade to this new version.

Wow, don't I feel honored that Lavasoft PR would register and post on this thread :P

Aww, thanks, automated crawler/bot! It's great to know that you care.

It's not an automated crawler, they've probably got a google alert set up and someone saw an alert and came to respond.

haha i didn't expect that! Well, at least that shows that they care. Maybe they should have a warning before you download that says its not compatible with Windows 7, or maybe they did have it but im too stupid and missed it.

Yeah, wait a minute. That's a little weird. Ravioli, you didn't bring that thing in here with you, did ya?

Well, "it" came as a result of me posting. So i guess i did.

There were so many programs that were not compatible with Vista....I wonder if more companies will take an active "Prepare" for Windows 7....

It seems to be a much better version of Vista, in my "I've never touched 7 yet, but I can guess" opinion.

I haven't had a single BSOD or crash of any kind on Windows 7 yet.

Granted I haven't used any Lavasoft programs since installing.

Wonder if we can invoke the words of some other companies to get more bots posting in this thread. It probably wouldn't be that hard because they're probably Googling queries like WINDOWS 7 NORTON CRASHATOLA LOL

Wacom need to get their act together. My Intuos 4 is sat gathering dust atm because they have yet to release a windows 7 compatible driver set (even though everyones nagging them to). The tablet works, but the reverse tablet option doesn't and being a leftie its more hassle than its worth to use the tabelts controls, Vs using a mouse instead...

I'm a real human!

Hey there,

Just to clarify that I am not a bot :cheese: I am however an employee of Lavasoft and I watch what is being said out there about the products I work with so we can know what people are experiencing and demanding!

I think you will find most companies are trying to be pre-emptive and address Window 7 before it's official launch. I can only speak for ourselves and say we are working hard towards certification prior to Windows 7 hitting the shelves. Official certification with Microsoft isn't always a walk in the park!

Great idea about the notice prior to download, you didn't miss it because it isn't there... so I will see what we can do.

Cheers!

Well I'll hand it to ya for being proactive. Here's hoping you guys do a good job for Win7 because new OS probably means new ways for spyware to work, and it's going to take me a while to learn how to not F up my machine
