Windows Media Player Problems

I have searched the entire web for this...but to no avial...

I just recently reformatted, and installed Windows Media Player 9. Problem is, when I play videos it does this little 'fast-forward' thing about every twenty seconds. This happend when I installed it on my system before the reformat, but somehow went away after a couple months, and I don't know what I did to get it to stop doing this...

Any help?

Graphics drivers fully updated?

PC specs?

I have the latest Drivers, and such...as for hardware, I'm pretty sure this is a software issue, since at one point, it did go away. I'm just not sure how I did it...
