This might be a simple case of me trying to force too much data into Windows Movie Maker, but I tried to fit a 600mB file into it and it crashes. Can anybody help? Below 600mB seems to be fine, but I need to get these files in so that I can cull them down.

It's not because I was trying to import the files over my USB from my Portable Hard Drive, because I just copied them onto my PC and they still make Windows Movie Maker crash. A little help, please?

Windows Movie Maker sucks the big one. You should look into other video editing alternatives. There are a ton out there for a pretty $$$, but there are also tons of ways to save your pretty pennies and still find yourself being able to use said alternatives. Good luck!

My guess is, you should try increasing your Pagefile, 'cause it sounds like Windows is running out of memory. Start -> Control Panel (Categorized View) -> Performance and Maintenance -> Adjust Visual Effects -> Advanced -> Change. Try upping it by about 250MB, assuming you have enough space on your Windows drive.

It should automatically increase the size of the pagefile if that was the reason..

It could also be set to a specific value. Mine is set to a custom size (384MB to 768MB), and it's possible to set it so that the pagefile size never changes. It's worth a try.
