I've posted on three other forums, Tech Support Guy, Tweakguides, and Neowin, (I even called Samsung tech support directly), but no success. So here I am at Halflife2.net as my last hope.

I just bought a brand new Samsung DVD/RW ROM drive, as seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151133. And I currently have a TDK CD/RW ROM drive installed as well.

I installed the new DVD/RW drive, made sure all the cables were properly connected and snug, and booted up. BIOS recognizes both drives correctly, (and even Nero 7's InfoTool, as well). The TDK CD/RW drive is set to master and the Samsung DVD/RW ROM drive to slave. Now when I get to desktop, they don't show up in Device Manager or under My Computer. They are only listed as generic CD-ROM drives. Usually Windows recognizes new drives and installs them automatically, but not this time. So I tried doing it manually through 'Add New Hardware' in Control Panel, but catch is it doesn't see anything as new. Or it gives me this error:
---------------------------
Cannot Run Two Device Installations
---------------------------
You can install only one device at a time.
Another device installation is underway, when it is finished you can try this wizard again.

OK

:x

Some other troubleshooting steps I took, that all which have failed me:

Switched the Master/Slave between the drives.
Updated the firmware for my new drive.
Set both drives to Cable Select.
Disconnected the CD/RW drive so that only the DVD/RW drive was to boot up.
Searched Google and Microsoft's site for help.
Tried uninstalling my previous drive, but that just makes the device manager freeze up on that window. (Same goes for updating the drive.)

So, please, if anyone can help me out I would surely appreciate it.

Even though it say CD Drive in explorer, have you tried putting a dvd in the drive?

It does not autoplay the DVD or ask which program to play it in, but yes, the drive does recognize that there is a disc present. But I can't play the DVD.

Edit: I can play DVD's. I had to select it to autorun DVD movies.

Edit^2: I uninstalled my old CD/RW drive and kept my new one in. It works now. I said to myself, if I can't both working I'll settle for just one. :/

Thanks for the help anyway, Asus.

Right click on my computer and select "manage". Have a look in "disk managment" under "storage" and see whats showing up under there.

Is that with both drives phisically installed in the machine?

No. I've stated that I only have the DVD/RW drive installed. I removed the other one.

well, yes, you did. I assumed you would realise that I meant with both drive in place.
