my pc has been giving me lots of problems such as loss of internet, monitor unable to receive signal, freezing when apps open and sometimes the mobo gives simultaneous beepings. i am running under the Guest user instead of admin user cuz it freezes so much. also, my gfx card is supposedley not getting enough power even though i connected everything right. the wierd part is that the cpu is running at stock speed of 2.2 ghz instead of 1.3 ghz (this is a good thing, i have been trying to fix this probem less than 2 years). is my pc dying and if so, should i get a new pc or a replacement mobo? i dun think i want this piece of junk even though i want to keep my 6600 gt....

400 w. nows its running at 1.3 ghz (wtf!) im running a athlon xp 3000+, 768 MB of pc2700 ram, 160 gb of hdd and a 6600 gt agp 128 mb

If it beeps something is wrong, so what kind of beeps? Like every once in a while? What were you doing? Some PC's have special beep sequences that mean something in particular.

Not an expert, but it sounds like something isn't installed correctly, whether hardware or software.

Did you build this PC at all?

If you did, you might have something plugged in wrong, not plugged in at all, or plugged into the wrong thing.

Also could be an incorrect motherboard driver perhaps?

this pc is a emachines (sucks i noe) and i transferred all the componenets to a new case, adding a sound card, gfx card and a firewire card. the beep occurs every 3 seconds. it used to do that. now im on my user, it is stable for now, but the prob i have is that my cpu runs at 1.3 ghz, not 2.2 ghz

my mobo site (first international) cant even give me an updated bios. i got outdated drivers. i think im gonna get a new mobo and cpu once i get enough dough.

Maybe someone else can tell you what that means:

Here are some resources, you'll have to search, might have to sign up to a forum to get help.

Tech Republic for example

I have an emachines. Hold F2 to go into bios after powering on your system. Since you have a sound card, turn off onboard sound and (probably, unless you hooked it up) front panel audio.

Also, I believe I recall an option to turn off beeps entirely, but can't remember where I saw that. Either through bios or OS, I can't remember, but of course it's best to figure out what is wrong instead of plugging your ears.

Maybe check some of the bios settings to be sure they are correct.

Also, try taking the PCI cards out and replacing them.

I'm not sure if it's beeping because of a CPU problem or if you have two separate problems. Make sure your CPU fan is working and intact. You have to do things like this even when buying new stuff, so don't be lazy! :p A new CPU and mobo don't install themselves. :)

Did this happen in the Emachine's case? Could the beep be the 'chassis intrusion' alert (disable in bios)?

No. The problems started happening when i got a new case. i noe i have posted a thread about the speed problem. i reformatted like twice since the new case and i couldn get the speed to 2.2 ghz. it was weird yesterday that it said 2.2 ghz and few hours later it dropped back to 1.3 ghz...

sometimes, the monitor does not get signal from the graphics card even though its hooked up right. but when i put it on loosely, i get the signal. so weird.

i put the bios in default by changing the plastic cap position on the mobo and putting there at least 6 secs then i put it back. there was that simultaneous beep. so i decided to call it a night. today, i managed to work it and i had no problems so far except the speed.

haiz, im tired of this freaking pc.
